Title: egg drop advice
Post by: Darkastral on December 19, 2007, 02:35:15 PM
we're doing an eggdrop in my physics class, but i'm not sure what to do

we were given nothing but 4 manilla filing folders, and we can't use any extra materials(even tape) to hold it together...

also, there's a size limit of 30cm in ANY direction...

I've found plenty of sites with ideas for eggdrops, but they all assume that you're able to use any materials available to you...

If you could use anything, I would recommend putting it in a hollowed out orange and then into a glove filled with paper shreds.

They did it on Mythbusters. :-X

Don't manilla filing folders have a soft inside? If so, then put the egg in the middle of one of the folders and then just keep putting that folder in the other folders and maybe the last one inside out or something.

Don't know if manilla folders are that versitile and can do that but you could try..

You could cut one of the manilla folders into strips and make paper springs (I love making those ^_^), and then fold a box around them.  Use cross-cuts to hold it together.
