Daft Punk is good, I personally wouldn't spend much money on them; I've never been a fan of Rage.

They broke up in '00 and reunited like ten months ago. I actually prefer Audioslave, I wish they continued it as a side project :/ Cornell's solo stuff innit very good.

Floyd is not a good way to expose modern rock fans to classics, Floyd is pretty deep and psychadelic.
You build bridges. Get a modern music person into the grunge era of the early ninties and older alternative, then that'll move 'em on to hard rock and onward from there.
