Title: Torrent help.
Post by: major tom on December 29, 2007, 03:35:28 PM
So I'm using uTorrent to download a double album and it had like 105 seeders which is supposed to be really good.

It's going kinda slow, been a few minutes and it's 1%.

Is that normal?

where are you getting the torrent from, check to see how many seeders, or whatever it is, there are

Uh that's what I'm torrenting.

I'm a noob to torrents, I used to use a site that let me stream audip MP3s and download them, fast, but it won't let me download anymore because it doesn't wanna get shut down. Only other thing I have is Limewire but it's a hassle to use unless you want one song.

For that large of a torrent, it's fine.

How many peers are there?  Don't pay attention to the number trackers give, they are usually wrong.

Utorrent leaks information to ISPs if IIRC.  I use BitComet, but theres tons of torrenting programs out there.

And I've been using uTorrent for awhile and no problems so...

Time Warner Cable recently acquired the company that produces uTorrent.  A leak was added to it that sends information to Time Warner, so they know how much you've been downloading/uploading and the sorts of content involved.

Then Time Warner owns them now AFAIK.

No, Time Warner doesn't own BitTorrent or uTorrent.
