QuotePariser believes in a very broad definition of stealing that is echoed by many supporters in the RIAA. She believes that users who buy songs are entitled to one, and only one copy. Burning CDs is just another name for stealing, in her mind. "When an individual makes a copy of a song for himself, I suppose we can say he stole a song." Making "a copy" of a purchased song is just "a nice way of saying 'steals just one copy'."

The RIAA would be dumb to continue with this poop. Opinions?
The RIAA is also currently trying to make internet radio illegal. And we won the right to keep it on. Five times now.
They are still trying.

I know you're joking (or at least I think you are...), but the radio stations pay royalties to music artists, so this crap RIAA and that European company are pulling is pathetic

You mean RIAA/Sony/Warner/Universal/EMI executives, right? They're the only ones getting rich over music other than HUGE artists.
Although EMI isn't too bad. They gave up DRM first, I haven't seen them filing bullpoop lawsuits like Sony and Universal, and they're considering leaving the RIAA.
Screw those power hungry bastards. The dont want poeple downloading music because then they loss money.

Do you have any idea how much the money collected by the RIAA the artist actually sees? Artists make the big money by doing public appearances and having their face sprayed on someone's t-shirt, not actually selling songs.

Sorry, I meant the RIAA and agents.
Yes a bunch of new people use Itunes and make good money even thought there not famous. People who are famous make enought money to start up there own thing like Itunes and make the entire profit.

because they want more money.
You realize though this is how capitalism works, right? People downloading music affects their profits. They're trying to keep from making less money than before. I don't support the insane amounts of money they make off artists, however I see why they react this way.
Alright, reading the article, THIS mad me off the most:
"Another possible avenue of legal action for the RIAA is the pursuit of businesses that play unauthorized music in stores. The Performing Rights Society (PRS), Britain's version of the RIAA, may give the RIAA some possible ideas with its pending litigation. The PRS is suing the Kwik Fit Group, a car repair shop in Edinburgh, for £200,000 in damages. The case revolves around the complaint that Kwik Fit employees brought in personal radios which they played while working on cars, which could be heard by colleagues and customers. The PRS says this amounts to a public "performance" and should have entailed royalties."
WTF? Crazy, ass holic peoples!

The money they potentially lose from P2P apps is negligible at worst. They try to make up for their slumping revenue by bringing about bullpoop lawsuits and having 'experts' commit perjury.
If they would stop the bullpoop lawsuits and give up the DRM, CD sales would be stronger like they were in the Napster days.

This has nothing to do with capitalism. They're bringing lawsuits based on bad information and false testimony because they refuse to acknowledge that their lawsuits do nothing to stop P2P, and their revenue is falling because of it.
