Title: So is Ness in or out?
Post by: Saraneth on January 02, 2008, 09:21:00 AM
I read a while ago on a Lucas post on the SSBB that Ness has has been in every game in SSB up till now. I am confused. Does this just mean Ness hasn't been announced, or he was replaced by Lucas.

Ness is out. Lucas is just like him and we don't need two of essentially the same character. Sorry Ness fans, but hey, Lucas looks like a pallet swap anyway so you can barely tell the difference gameplay wise  ;D

While I believe he is out, and he most likely is, he might still be in.

I don't remember the exact quote, but translated literally it isn't exactly "up until now". There has been some changes in wording to the English translation ("Real men use items" was "I'm done registering now" or something along those lines), so there is still a chance.

He can't. Period. Next you are going to start saying Assist trophies will be playable. And, of course, you will now.

Never thought of that.

Anyway, pressing 2 buttons at the same time is what Sakurai should do, that way, clone characters could appear or decloned.

That's why he is special, no, not a Dr Mario throwing fireballs, the actual Dr Mario.

IMO he is out, but I don't really care because he is basically the same as Ness and his Standard B seems even cooler. Plus I liked Mother 3 better than 2 and 1 so yeah.

Ness was supposed to be out in Melee...

Lucas wasn't in Melee like he was supposed to be because Earthbound 64 was canceled.

So don't expect Ness back.

I dought a mere color change gives you another character with another name.  What would be the point of that?  Why not make it a separate character?

Well, that's probably your best bet. Since Ness was supposed to be replaced by Lucas in the first place in Melee, a costume is probably the best you can hope for...

Why bother making a new costume for Lucas that looks like Ness.  Sakurai should just make him a character but his chances are low so he might be an AT.

Same moves...he could just use a pallet swap like Wario is using (same trick they use for Sonic/Shadow/Metal Sonic and quite a few other Sonic characters in games)

im pretty sure they only did that in the old sonic games...they all have had their own separate things in the newer ones...

You'll see! You'll all see! He'll be back! :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( *Runs away crying*
I want him back too but not as a Lucas costume.   :D :D :D :D :D :D

Shadow is always a pallet swap of Sonic except for the PS3/360 game. Every single time besides that he's a pallet swap. Metal Sonic in SA2:B is a pallet swap of Sonic as well...(well, technically its a pallet swap of Super Sonic, but w/e.)
