Title: A game series you would improve and how.
Post by: Sk8teland85 on January 03, 2008, 11:45:33 AM
There are many game series out there and they all have there up points and low points to them. So what series do you think need improvments and just what do you think would improve them. I will start:

One series that could use some improvments is the Mario Party series.

For one the series need to just take it easy and not make so many new games. Take the time and develop the games beter. Many of the games are just too similar to the other ones. This would help make the games better and really would help develop a better experance for the player. The minigames are just not original anymore they all play too similar to other minigames from earlier games. Also I would like to see online play added in to make the game experiance more expanded.

Well that is mine what about all of you.

Pokemon games.

I use to enjoy these games a LOT, but they are all the same.  I like the battles well enough, but they storylines really suck and since pokemon was to be about the bond between the trainer and his/her pokemon the story should reflect that more.  I would really like to see a pokemon game focus on character development.  Have a more customized character to start with and really learn what that character is about and how him or her became a trainer and the bonding between trainer and pokemon.  That would be great.

I wouldn't really improve any game, but I would improve the online system. No friend codes ftw!

Sonic Adventure 3 on Wii with regular (not Secret Rings; similar to Galaxy) controls, chao garden, and online multiplayer battles like SA2:B's multiplayer.

Would be way better than Secret Rings, Shadow the Hedgehog, etc.

Turning Pokemon into a MMORPG would be enough to save the series for at least a decade.

that would make me very, very happy.  it would be the first pokemon game I would buy since Yellow, and I'd snatch it up instantly.

until the day that they can place us in a virtual reality world of pokemon, that would do for me. :P

what console would that be on?

pokemon has always been about handhelds.

they can't do that on a DS.

Wii. Or maybe its successor.

Make Zelda games more interesting and less of a sleep inducer in video game form.

Or better yet, just end the series. We've been saving the same princess from the same guy for 20 years now.

I'd make sonic games have good ideas and fun gameplay.

Hmmm... Donkey Kong. He needs to go back to Country style platforming. Maybe they could make you drum the nunchucks for his earthquake move he uses in Smash Bros, and he'd use it to raise platforms.

Why not like Donkey Kong 64?

The little bit that I played it, I thought it was pretty good.

DK64 is one of the best games I have ever played, not that far underneath Yoshi's Island (which is the best game I've ever played).

I wasn't a big fan of changing characters just to collect.

What I'm saying, is that it was Country style platforming. I just couldn't think of a way to improve on it. Hmmm... Maybe there should be... Levels where you use the Wiimote to grab stuff and swing, like DK: King of Swing? Yeah, if done right, it would work wonders.

Mario Party.
It needs to go back to its roots.  I think the developers should play Mario Party, and then play Mario Party 7 and see how they compare.  Then, they need to make MP9 based on Mario Party (1).

what they need to do is go back to termina and have a dark story like Majora's Mask.

Nice responses so far. Speaking of the Zelda series here are my thoughts on how it can be improved:

For one I would like to see more original games like Phantom Hourglass. Twilight Princess is a great game but it could have been so much better if they made some changes to the general design. Like make the environments much more open and the dungeons more complex. Also, as was pointed out the story could be more darker like in Majora's Mask.

Also, I would like to see more complex puzzle elements in the games. That is one thing I liked about Phantom Hourglass, the puzzles were very inventive and took some thought to solve since the solutions were not as obvious as in other Zelda games. Another thing I would like to see is more character development. I mean don't get me wrong the characters are still good but it would be nice if they flushed them out more. Also, some voice acting could not hurt.
