Title: X-Box 360 Live: DNS Test Help.
Post by: NDS on January 05, 2008, 06:09:14 PM
I bought a 360 today, and everything is going great but I am having some trouble connecting to Live. Because my router is 3 floors down, I have plugged the Ethernet cable into my PC (the other end into the 360, obviously). I have passed the IP test, but now I keep failing the DNS test. How do I fix that?

I have been to many forums asking for help but none of them have replied. I hope I don't get the same treatment here. Thanks for  your help. :)

Check to make sure your firewall is off, and that no antivirus programs are monitoring internet connections.

Holy crap, it was that simple? It worked Thanks a lot Silva! ;D Rofl, I owe you.

But I had to turn off ZoneAlare Security Suite. :( Anything I can alter in the firewall's options to let me game with security?

Again, thank you. I can't believe t was this simple. xD

You could probably turn on WEP encryption.

You could probably turn on WEP encryption.
Then no DS/Wii connectivity. :(

Ok, with my Firewall ON, I can now get past the DNS. Now I need to know how to fix the MTU because I keep failing that test. Any more help Silver?

not the WEP I have for some reason. But thanks for your concern and your will to help anyways. :) I managed to allow my 360 to operate on Live while still keeping my Firewall on. I'm thankful Silver mentioned the firewall because I had no idea it would be causing it.

Dubya Tee Eff. The DS and Wii have WEP. The DS has no WPA.

The 360 online service is in a league of its own.
PS3, DS and Wii online, though free, isn't nearly as good as 360.
Sure you pay for it, but its totally worth it.
