I'm sure a Wii could record more than 2 minutes alone without an SD card but the update sounded like that was the limit.

Maybe just 2 minute segments...
Like you can start a new segment after your original 2 minutes is up, so that there are smaller files...
I wanted to make movies in this game but if this is the only recording feature I'm really dissapointed.
