On Windows, Start, Run, dxdiag.

First tab shows general information. Display tab shows your graphic card stuff.

I click the apple in the top left and choose "about this mac"

My Computer > Right-Click Local Disk (C:) > Properties

There's a pie graph there of available and used memory.

Right click my computer and click properties.  Basic operating information will be right there.
