Title: RedSox's Roy analysis.
Post by: Red on January 13, 2008, 05:22:05 PM
Hi there. This is my second analysis. Hope you will enjoy. ;D

Roy

This is Roy. If you don't know who he is, where have you been? Roy was apparently a clone of Marth in SSBM and now has been the spark of many arguments on whether or not he'll be cut in SSBB. Now, you're here to read three points of view. Number one, he will be cut; number two, he won't be cut and number three, my point of view.

Number one, he'll be cut.
Roy was a clone of Marth and the only reason he was in SSBM was for advertising his new game. There really was no point for Roy to be in; most likely he'll be replaced by Sigurd, Sakurai's favorite lord. Roy wasn't nearly as good as Marth.

Number two, he'll stay.
Even though Roy was a clone, he could easily be decloned. Now that his game is out, there is even more reason ti put him in. If Sigurd is Sakurai's favorite, why wasn't he in SSBM? Roy was as good, if not better, than Marth. He is a bit slower, but a lot more powerful.

Number three, My opinion.
Roy was by far my best in SSBM. Also, who says Marth wasn't a clone of Roy? "oohhhhh u get marth first!!111 and u use marth to get roy!!11 there is your proof!!" be realistic, even though you get Captain Falcon before Gannon, Pikachu before Pichu, Mario before Dr. Mario and Fox before Falco, that has nothing to do in this situation. If you look at the list, the first of each was in the original SSB64. Both Marth and Roy were added in SSBM thereby making the situation unrealistic.

History in Super Smash Bothers:
Roy was added to the Super Smash Brother series in the lastest game SSBM. He was unlocked by beating classic mode with Marth and then beating him in a fight.

History:
His first game was FE6 and was the son of Eliwood.

Analysis:
Roy would make a great addition to SSBB for several reasons. He was in the previous game  and was the main lord in FE6. He would be middle-high tier because of his strength and average speed.

Moveset:
"A" attacks
Neutral: Slash
Side: Thrust
Down: Slash at the legs
Up: Current up smash without the fire
"B" attacks:
Neutral: Thrust fire covered sword out, turns sword sideways and pulls backward.(Charging decides how much fire is on sword)
Side: Holds sword backward(hilt up) and cuts.
Up: Throws a sword with a chain of fire connecting from the hilt to his hand upward, when it reeaches maximum height then pull himself upwards: can tether.
Down: Same
Smash attacks:
Side: Same
Up: Throws sword upward
Down: Same
Grabs: Same

Hope you enjoyed. ;D

Marth has statistically been proven to be better than Roy.
I'm sure at least Dawei can back me up on this.

Sigurd was probably cut from Marth, because well, Marth is obviously more important as he's the first lord and Roy had a game coming out meaning this was the perfect time to advertise.

Roy's duty has been fulfilled, so time to replace him.
That's my view. :)

I'm hoping Roy gets in before Marth. I thought Marth was a huge prick.

Nice analyzing job.

I'm getting really sick of Roy being considered advertisement for Fire Emblem.  He's just as important as Marth in smash bros so why isn't anybody saying Marth is advertisement?  Good analysis btw.
