Title: Lets talk about the actuall stage.
Post by: Cornwad on January 15, 2008, 01:04:27 PM
Do you like it? It think its pretty cool looking, but the bulborb is just too big. I mean, look how big the Pikmin are compared to it! The springy floor looks like it will be fun too.

I guess this stage is automatically banned from tourneys though, you can get items from the onions.

I wonder if other creatures (Snagrets, Creeping Crysanthimums) will br in.

The pikmin were always microscopic compared to the bulborb. I assume that Olimar isn't short at all, and the planet is just huge.

I love the stage. It's very cool looking just like Pikmin, and very photorealistic in some ways too. I love how the weather can  change.  (I hope for some Weather Channel connection? That'd be cool)

It looks awesome, but all of the vegetation is hard for me to sort through. XD
I can't wait to play on this stage though. ^_^

In his own universe, Olimar is nickel-sized and so is every other Brawler.
In any place else, he's human sized.

that's true. We never get a good height description like Kirby or Link. We can't even tell Mario's true height due to the shortness of the Toads (for all we know Peach could just be insanely tall or something)

In Pikmin's instruction manual (Pikmin 2 probably has it too), there is an 'actual-size' picture of Olimar, all three pikmin colors, and a US quarter.

Various places describe the height of other characters.

From Wikipedia: Kirby is a small, pink, spherical creature with large red feet, stubby arms and trademark pink cheek-blushes. His body is soft and flexible, allowing him to be flattened. He is said to be 20 centimeters (8 in) tall,[9][10]

Yea, Kirby is eight inches, Olimar "nickel" less (lol), and Sonic barely tops out at four feet (which is a little too short in my opinion, he needs to be almost human height so he's less kiddy)

I couldn't tell what was stage and what was background. 0_o

Melee was confusing ENOUGH with playing with 4 players, and NOW we have a stage that blends in with the background!

BUT, it IS a cool stage, so, 6/10.

Size always seems to change in continuity, so I digress the fact that Bowser always changse size.

I think he just wants to show how small you are on this planet. Just reallly for effect purposes probably. If that were really the case, no way anyone could win in Pikmin...

Back to the stage. I just wish it was a bit....bigger or something. It just seems like everything is on the left with only bulborb on the right. It just seems unbalanced to me. I wish also it was a bit  more "vertical". It seems horribly flat.

Yea, Kirby is eight inches, Olimar "nickel" less (lol), and Sonic barely tops out at four feet (which is a little too short in my opinion, he needs to be almost human height so he's less kiddy)
Kirby: 20cm
Sonic: 100cm
what game are you getting that from? I think Secret Rings (or Heroes, not quite sure) has him at almost four feet...
I got Sonic's height from the official Japanese Sega site.

You can clearly read the "100cm" even if you don't know Japanese.
Stupid........little........tiny...........gnome........
Lol, Olimar does look like a gnome now that you think about it. :D

The pikmin were always microscopic compared to the bulborb. I assume that Olimar isn't short at all, and the planet is just huge.
???? Are you talking about Olimar or the others? I know Kirby's, Sonic's, and Olimar's, and Snake's is probably out there somewhere.

I was talking about Sonic! Not Lucario! (Besides, I won't even dare to call Lucario like that, he is powerful!)

Yeah, the bulborbs in Smash are waaaayy too big O_O
Not that there is anything bad about that. If they were actuall size compared to the pikmin, they wouldn't be as intimidating.
