My idea: Guitar Hero: Zeppelin Edition. The only GH version without a lame song.
(Note, + means encore)

Set IV: California, 1972

-Misty Mountain Hop
-When The Levee Breaks
+Rock and Roll
Set V: Madison Square Garden, 1973
-Dancing Days
-The Ocean
-D'yer Mak'er
-The Song Remains The Same
+Over The Hills and Far Away
Set VI: Days on the Green, 1977
-Houses of the Holy
-Kashmir
-Trampled Underfoot
-Royal Orleans
+Ten Years Gone
Set VII: Knebworth, 1979

+Nobody's Fault But Mine
Set VIII: Europe, 1980
-In My Time of Dying
-Dazed and Confused
-In The Evening
-Achilles Last Stand
+Stairway to Heaven
(I'd like to note that some of these are based on real concerts, but some of the songs on these sets weren't played there. They're just songs from around that time. The last set is a collection of 'epic' Led songs, except for In The Evening, added there for variety :P)
An all Led Zeppelin GH game. That would kick ass.
Ok, I'm done. Design your own GH game.

AUGH! I FORGOT AUDIOSLAVE! I put em' in there.
There's no way that Stairway belongs in the final set. It's an overrated song, anyway.
Anyway, I don't have enough songs to make a complete setlist, but a few general suggestions to follow. If I have something marked down as
(E), I think it'd make a good encore.
Early Sets (1-3)
-"The Old Apartment" or "Off the Hook" by Barenaked Ladies
-"Slide" or "Name" by Goo Goo Dolls
(E1 or E2)Middle Sets (4-5)
"Highway to Hell" by AC/DC
-"Have a Nice Day" by Bon Jovi
Late Sets (6-8)
-"Zoot Allures" by Frank Zappa
(E6)-"Eruption" by Van Halen (Get them to rerecord it to make it longer, if possible)
-"Surfing with the Alien" by Joe Satriani
-"Trail of Tears" by Eric Johnson
(E7) (10 minutes, needs some trimming)
-"Nottingham Lace" by Buckethead
They definitely need to have Van Halen as a boss battle and have you play Eruption after you beat him.

oya, eruption rules. Often times on classic rock radio stations you'll hear eruption followed by You Really Got Me. For a boss battle with EVH, I think they should use Baluchitherium (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balance_(album)) from Van Halen's Balance album. It's a four minute instrumental, it'd be sweet. The other option is to make the battle Eruption, followed by Cathedral and one other short VH instrumental.
Seriously. Van. Halen. Guitar Hero needs it.
I'm gonna think of a quick setlist right now. I'll throw in some story.
I: Garage Jam- The band plays in a garage and a guy asks them if they want to record in his home studio.
-Sheena is a Punk Rocker (Ramones)
-Daytripper (Cheap Trick)
-Heaven's on Fire (Kiss)
-I Just Wanna Make Love To You (Foghat)
+I'm Eighteen (Alice Cooper)
II: Studio Shack- The band records an EP in the guy's studio.
-Proud Mary (Creedence Clearwater Revival)
-Magic Man (Heart)
-I Am The Night, Colour Me Black (Priestess)
-Here Comes The Sun (The Beatles)
+Raw Power (Iggy Pop and the Stooges)
III: Opening a Tour- The band opens for AC/DC
-Too Young To Fall In Love (Motley Crue)
-Buick Makane (T. Rex)
-Bad Reputation (Joan Jett)
-Hot Blooded (Foreigner)
+High Voltage (AC/DC)
[Guitar battle: Angus Young, set to the AC/DC instrumental DT (http://youtube.com/watch?v=wOXvyS-0Lbg).
IV: Day at the Festival- The band plays at a major outdoor music festival.
-Jumpin' Jack Flash (The Rolling Stones)
-Let it Roll (Velvet Revolver)
-Stone Cold Crazy (Queen)
-The Joker (Steve Miller Band)
+White Room (Cream)
V: At The Stadium- The band sells out a show at a huge baseball stadium.
-Smokin' (Boston)
-Pretty Vacant (Sex Pistols)
-We're an American Band (Grand Funk Railroad)
-Original Fire (Audioslave)
+Won't Get Fooled Again (The Who)
VI: On the Tube- The band performs songs from their new album, which is praised by critics, on TV.
-Sweet Emotion (Aerosmith)
-That Smell (Lynyrd Skynyrd)
-Joker and the Thief (Wolfmother)
-Alive (Pearl Jam)
+Vultures (John Mayer)
[Guitar battle: John Mayer]
VII: At The Strip- The band plays a secret show for their friends at a Sunset Strip rock club.
-Peace Sells (Megadeth)
-Everybody Wants Some!! (Van Halen)
-Paradise City (Guns N' Roses)
-Highway Star (Deep Purple)
+Creeping Death (Metallica)
VIII: In The North- The band plays a concert in north Scandinavia, on top of a frozen cliff.
-Aces High (Iron Maiden)
-Little Wing (Stevie Ray Vaughan)
-Voodoo Child Slight Return (Jimi Hendrix)
-In My Time of Dying (Led Zeppelin)
[Guitar battle: Eddie Van Halen, set to Van Halen instrumental Baluchitherium]
+Eruption as the 'finish him' part of the guitar battle
IX: Reunion (see below for info)
-Comfortably Numb (Pink Floyd)
-2112: Overture/Temples of Syrinx (Rush)
-Stranglehold (Ted Nugent)
-Black Hole Sun (Soundgarden)
+Surfing With The Alien (Joe Satriani)
There'd be a story to this, and it takes place over a span of a few years. There's a band consisting of a male singer who plays rhythm guitar when it is needed in a song, a male drummer, a male lead guitarist, and a female bassist who sings lead vocals for female vocal songs. You will be able to customize their appearance and instruments, yeah, for the entire band.
First they're a garage band, but they rise to success, gaining a lot fame when the lead guitarist defeats Angus Young in a guitar battle. They become a highly successful band, and became known as one of the greatest bands of their decade after they made their second album. At this time the lead guitarist becomes unhealthy and suffers from a drug addiction. He becomes slightly fatter. The band also begins to have conflicts among eachother.
They do the unusual and film a concert video- from the air- of the band playing on top of an icy cliff in Scandinavia. As they perform, it's televised live. Eddie Van Halen takes a visit, and challenges the lead guitarist. After the lead guitarist defeats Eddie, he becomes an immediate legend. However, his health problems cause a sudden breakdown. He stumbles, falling off the cliff. The band breaks up, unable to move on without him. Five years later, it shows a magazine cover calling them rock legends.
If you beat career mode at single player and at co-op, you'll unlike the ninth set. Five years after breaking up, the living band members reunite, and with the help of various guitarists, play a reunion show.
Rate my songlist and my plotline or whatever.
Pretty good, but it'd never happen because of the drug usage. I don't really consider the story behind Guitar Hero to be all that important, anyway.
Also, nice selection of artists (aside from the Sex Pistols, ewww...), like the idea of John Mayer as a boss, but where's the Frank Zappa? :(

Yeah, but I just think a story in GH4 would be cool. It's not needed, but it's a bonus. And yeah, the drug usage could mess it up, maybe he just plain gets fat. Dunno. With a band getting mad at eachother and a guy dying, but reuniting later anyways, it'd be a much more accurate rockstar story xD
Sex Pistols rule, whatchoo talkin' bout. And Frank Zappa would be great, but I don't listen to him much... and we might as well just use living guys or something :/
Mayer would be a good touch of modern music. Guitar Hero games need more blues, and a modern blues artist like Mayer would help. I'd love to guitar battle with John Mayer. Most people just know him for making hits like Waiting On The World To Change, rather than his awesome guitar skills.
I also think GH needs some softer songs into the mix, hence I added Here Comes The Sun. Music doesn't have to be electric to kickass.
I. Iron Maiden Festival
-Run To The Hills

Sounds epic. Piano man FTW!
I've got harmonica hero, currently stuck at Love Me Do on expert :/
It's harder than it looks.
Here's what I've got so far. This is taking a very long time to get the way I want it, and I'm planning on making the career setlist at least two tiers larger than it is in GHIII.
Note that I've actually figured out most of the songs I want to use, but these two tiers are the only part I've got figured out in somewhat of a good order.
Italics denote an encore, while a + indicates a guitar battle.

Yay. Good one.
But why SRV on tier 1?
Because "Cold Shot" is a pretty simple song.
Why not just save the SRV for later, though? SRV has really sw00t songs like Texas Flood and his Little Wing instrumental that'd be great for one of the last songs. Sure beats having everything in tier 8 being metal.

+Guitar Battle vs. a Self-Playing Fender Stratocaster (a mix of 5 songs selected by Activision employees)
++Guitar Battle vs. The God of Rock (an hour-long instrumental solo created by Activision)
+++Customs
I know, it's short, but it would take a really long time to beat! :D
Holy poop no one would ever be able to pass it on Expert
I meant for it to be for people like GM, MH, Wulfe, Ben, Priest, Hellashes, and all those other elitists. That's why it's the Championship Edition. It's supposed to be near impossible.
And expert's the lowest difficulty ^_^
Oh man.

I know, it's the band's name, but I have no idea what their real names are...
Jimmy Page.
How can you not know that name? One of the greatest guitarists ever.
Btw, Page >>> Herman Li

Why not just save the SRV for later, though? SRV has really sw00t songs like Texas Flood and his Little Wing instrumental that'd be great for one of the last songs. Sure beats having everything in tier 8 being metal.
I was having a lot of trouble coming up with early tier songs, and that happened to be one of the simpler songs I had in my iTunes, so I used it. The tiers are most likely temporary, though.
...if I ever feel like finishing this.
I swapped places with santana and Brownie Mary. I just heard "I'll be the one" And it'd be PERFECT for a 6th tier song. Into the night is good as a 2nd tier song.
I suggest looking up "I'll be the one" By Brownie Mary. It's awesome, and I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up in rock band. Or GH3 DLC.
