Title: Do you DND?
Post by: Saraneth on January 21, 2008, 04:07:40 PM
Sort of serious. I am just getting into DND and I was wondering who plays. BTW, if you do play, does anybody have information for creating a warmage class character?

I played half a game.
I never really got into it, though it got fun to scream "SEARCH CHECK!!!1" at the slightest provocation.
I think the Dungeonmaster was getting ticked. >_>

Never played it.

DND is obsolete. We have a thing called an MMORPG. So uh... no need for dungeon masters and dies.

No it isn't.  There is no way an MMORPG can convey the endless possibilities of tabletop games like D&D.  The fact that the game is controlled by humans and not just a program is reason enough.  In D&D, unlike MMO's, there are no real set rules or limitations.  You can do ANYTHING in D&D.  For example, someone in our party is a werewolf and he couldn't get into a walled city because the guards thought him to be evil or whatever.  So he went into the nearest farmhouse and tried to steal some bedsheets so he could pass off as a somewhat hairy old woman.  Can you do that in an MMO?  I'd like to see you try.

Meh, the only DnD settings worth playing are Planescape and Dark Sun. Everything else is complete sh*t. That said, the Shadowrun PnP franchise beats the hell out of DnD. If you want to play a truly awesome PNPRPG, get Shadowrun.

Shadowrun is a truly excellent PnP game. There are nearly endless possibilities for character customization. There is nothing better than blowing an orc whore's head off with a shotgun wielding biker dwarf. Mix of cyberpunk and urban fantasy races ftw, I say.

I am not a nerd or a geek, I am just looking to play with some of my friends. We all happen to have lives too. But that's beside the point. If you do play and know what the warmage class info is, please PM me.

PNP games shall never die.

my friend memorized half the rulebooks, so maybe he could help...I'll have to ask him the next time I see him and tell you what he says.

...oh wait, our PnP club (yeah, we play in school olol) has all the rulebooks in PDF format on the school common drive.  Maybe tomorrow I'll go check if warmage is there.

DnD has recently been updated to DnDn 4e, so there may be quite a few new classes coming, as well. Some of the settings have also gone through a change, especially the Forgotten Realms. If you're a Forgotten Realms fan, know that your favorite DnD setting has been brutally raped. The Sword Coast remains unchanged, but it sucks anyway, so who care.

If you really want a good DnD experience, play an older DnD edition that supports the Planescape setting. No other setting can match the epic awesomeness that is Planescape.
