In terms of games, I love DD. Steam is awesome, and so is the VC and its capabilities. For music, however, I much prefer a physical copy, because I don't like dealing with DRM and all that crap.
I think DD is only going to replace DVDs for PC games, mainly because some of the games that are coming out for the PS3 and 360 would take several huge downloads.
It's still great for XBLA/PSN/WiiWare.
They both have their place. DD I don't really mind for stuff like VC, Steam, or XBLA, but physical stuff isn't going away any time soon.
I prefer physical purchases, mainly for music. You have the disc and case for your collection, and all your songs backed up on a CD.
I rather like having the physical disk for current games, but I don't mind buying older games from the PlayStation Store, Xbox Live Market Place, or Virtual Console and smaller games like Calling all Cars or Rez HD.
iTunes Plus and Amazon don't have DRM.
If you don't want to deal with DRM stop listening to artists distributed by labels that are members of the RIAA.

Good luck with that. Still, DRM on music is nearly dead. Now we fight our new battle: DRM on video.
Can't you remove DRM with a simple program?
Anyways, DD, for music and some videos, since it's easier and cheaper, though I wouldn't do something like steam or stuff. But torrents ::)
Physical Purchase. it's always good to have a hard copy of whatever you get.

Exactly why I buy CD's.
I prefer Physical Purchase for things that are recent like CDs or new Video games. But older games like SNES and NES games you can't really buy physically today, and if they are they're usually in bad condition. So DD for older things.
Digital Distribution is, in my opinion, a genius thing. So long as they have records of your account for the stuff online, and you can access it from anywhere that, just genius too me. I personally believe Digital Distribution is something that you can make a lot of money off of, and yet few people have really done it or know what it is.
Music: Physical. You're songs are backed up on CD (unless you break it) and they sometimes come with cool stuff. When noy CD, torrent. iTunes and stuff like that suck.
Games: Physical. Why would I want to waste time downloading a huge game?
Movie: Physical for same reason as Music. Plus, when you downloads movies, no special features.

Yes, but those are a pain to find because of the DMCA. And burning and reripping is a pain in the ass.
I hate how you can't download free music in the states legally, but you can in Canada, so you can't find anywhere to download music for free, because most of the sites are run from the states. :|
I mean, yeah, I can use programs like Limewire, but then my parents know that I'm downloading stuff "Immorally".
not like artists get any cash from CDs anyways.
