You can't prove that they are.
And Ivy is probably female because it has a flower on it's back ;P

They were added in melee, he meant no newcomers in Brawl.
though ZSS could halfway count to disproove him.

Don't get in Jeofmars/Dawei Mode now please.

I have an idea, let's check the differences between males and females about Squirtle, Ivisaur and Charizard. (Lucario's voice is of a man, that can be a big help)

Well yea in the Zero Suit is the only new female character, but i doubt Sakurai is sexiest... but I mean how many other GOOD female characters would fit into the game?

Probably none.  all I could probably think of are toadette, birdo and daisy.  Who wants them?  and if we're going by the booklet to super mario 2, we can't even count Birdo, so we're down to just two.

or should we have Navi, or Tatl.  Romani, tetra, although she's zelda.  there we go, tetra/toon zelda, an opposite of zelda/sheik.  It's stupid, but it's probably the best we have to work with as far as worthy woman go.  How about Koume and Kotake?  Nabooru, Saria, princess Ruto?  Medli?

The fact is, I think he's exhausted the possibilities for playable woman.  I can sit and think of all kinds of girls in games, but none of them would make any kind of sense as characters, or even AT's.  Sakurai isn't sexist, he just knows what he's doing.  And even if he were sexist, the guy can make one hell of a game that I'm gonna buy no matter how masculine he wants it to seem!

I haven't played the starfox games to know anything about her, but that would be a bit of overkill with her.  Actually, I'd say it would be a good idea to get rid of falco or wolf to put her in, but then the lovers of the other two would be in uproar.  It depends on who would be the better character and I'm sure he made the right choice.

Actually, she would have made a sweet character because she uses a staff in starfox adventures which would make her a unique moveset plus alot of nerds think she's hot.  I don't think Sakurai's sexist but it probably didn't occur to him that the female representation in the roster was small.  Having 4 starfox characters isn't too much.We have four zelda, and pokeman reps.  You gonna complain about starfox having 4?

Krystal definately deserved to be in.  But I don't think Sakurai's sexist; he just hates us!  ;)
Example: ROB and ICs got in instead of Ray 01, Krystal, Ridley, or Bowser Jr., even though they were all super popular and more deserving.

Yeah, and it didn't deserve to be in.  Just like the rest of the complaint I made, it apparently doesn't matter what the fans want to be in, or even what honestly deserves to be in.  It's about what Sakurai personally likes.  Also, Sora or Geno definately deserved to be in more than Snake (square enix>konami in terms of how close they are with nintendo).

Actually it's Ray MK II.

Not 01.

And to the topic, maybe he couldn't find any more women that would be good in brawl. I mean, he said he wanted more females, maybe he couldn't get them.

But Snake's creator begged Sakurai for Snake to be in Melee but it was too late. So, to be kind, Sakurai decided to put Snake in Brawl. Also Sakurai loved the ice climbers, they were his favorite video game character so why wouldn't he put them in Melee?

Actually, Square got its start on the NES. The only reason the heavy-hitting Final Fantasies have been on Sony's consoles is because, when the N64 was made, Sqaure believed that final Fantasy XII wouldn't work on a cartridge based system, so they teamed up with Sony. When the Gamecube came, Square saw that Nintendo's newest disk based console would be able to handle their ideas, but they had signed a contract with Sony which forbade them from making final fantasy games on other consoles.

Back on topic, I don't think Sakurai is sexist. It's just he believes there wasn't anymore great choices and that there just wasn't anymore room for more characters (I mean come on, there's like 7.5 GB of data on that one disk)

I own Pearl. But not all the Pokémon have different looks when it comes to gender.
Out of the ones in Brawl, only Pikachu has that different look when it comes to gender differences. So Brawl Pikachu is male.

Lucario and PT's PKMN don't have gender differences, so we can't say whether they are male nor female

@Chris
That was in the movie, and I'm not sure if he talks in the game, but some females have masculine voices too.

He's not sexist...he just probably dosent care at all which characters we want in, he puts in the ones he wants and we cant really do anything about it now  ;) Krystal should have been in it tho..

Krystal definately deserved to be in.  But I don't think Sakurai's sexist; he just hates us!  ;)
Example: ROB and ICs got in instead of Ray 01, Krystal, Ridley, or Bowser Jr., even though they were all super popular and more deserving.
Actually Ice Climber games were what Sakurai played during childhood.  That's why they are in smash bros.  I found this on wikipedia.
But Snake's creator begged Sakurai for Snake to be in Melee but it was too late. So, to be kind, Sakurai decided to put Snake in Brawl. Also Sakurai loved the ice climbers, they were his favorite video game character so why wouldn't he put them in Melee?

LOL, Square, from what I've heard, HATES Nintendo. Or at least, that's what I've heard. :-X
Yeah, except The spinoffs like KH and Chocobo games and the DS remakes/spinoffs.   :|

Whoever's fault it was, Nintendo or Sony, they were stupid not to put a FF or KH character in Brawl.  Or, at the very least, Geno.

Here's a list of female reps that people wanted.

Krystal
Lyn
Lip
Midna

That's about it.  There aren't very much because Brawl's covered the most important ones.  Btw.  What game is Lip from?

oh next everyone's gonna be saying u can tell what gender lucario is by looking up its skirt. did u notice how in the pokemon show they always refered to the pokemon as "it." i have no idea what pokemon are what anymore. there's people telling me that jigglypuff is a male. i'm really mad that krystal isn't even an assist trophy. Sakurai knew that she was highly requested as a playable so he figured it would be an exellent idea to give her a little cameo at Corneria in classic mode that no one cares about. he's not sexist. he just only puts in characters requested by Japanese fans.

You can tell if a Pikachu is male or female by if it's tail is split or not.

The one in Brawl is a male. Jigglypuff isn't known, but most people refer to it as a female because she was female in the anime.

Jigglypuffs can be male or female.

They clearly address the one in the anime as a she.

And besides, I don't think Jiggs is a recurring character in the anime anymore.

Your sister has some issues to deal out with a therapist. I personally refer to Jigglypuff as a male (he, his etc. etc.) mostly because no one knows, i just think he's a boy.

i think it is pretty obvious that jigglypuff is a female. why else would the people that created "her" gone to the trouble of making "her" so feminine?

I think the only reason Lyn wasn't playable is because of her gettup. Sakurai doesn't want more people to find a way to look at her underwear (if she has any) when she kicks, jumps, or somethin'.

Girl characters dont deserve to be in just for the sake of it.
I think the only reason Lyn wasn't playable is because of her gettup. Sakurai doesn't want more people to find a way to look at her underwear (if she has any) when she kicks, jumps, or somethin'.
Well, that's one reason... (By the way, I like your new Death Note avatar)

okay 3 things:
1:Dont show this message to nintendo they might delay brawl for 6 months to add more girl characters  ;) .
2: isnt jiggly puff a girl  ????
3:just do what my sister dose, she pretends  all the pokemon(the small ones) are girls.
she dose the same with kirby ,young link(  ???? )  diddy, king dedede(  ???? ) and more!
Your sister has some issues to deal out with a therapist. I personally refer to Jigglypuff as a male (he, his etc. etc.) mostly because no one knows, i just think he's a boy.
I refer to Jigglypuff as a female because she is female in the Pokemon cartoon, by which she was made VERY popular.
wh not refer to jiggs as an "it"?
For crying out loud it is a girl! She wears a crown and boy for crying out loud. Plus the majority of Jiggs are girls so...

Jiggs can be Male OR Female, just depending on what it's wearing.  For example, if it's wearing the tiara or bow, it's obviously a girl.  However, if a guy is playing as Jigglypuff, they'll just go neutral or wear the awesome green kung-fu headband.

Generally though, it's refered to as "she".

Krystal would have been awesome... :(
But, instead of putting in Krystal as a new girl or Ridley as a new Metroid character, Sakurai just ripped us off by putting in ZZS to cover both of them!  >:(

sakurai is not sexist but he's not concerned with balancing male characters with female characters. that may be why krystal and midna didn't make it. BTW does anyone know if midna is an assist trophy?

That would be a dumb reason depending on if there's more detail up Zelda and Peach's dresses.  They're just video game characters!!  What kind of weirdo perverts would do something like that?

True, but a guy might want to control himself so he doesn't get embarrassed.  If you read alot of the comments on that page alot of weirdos are making fools over themselves.

I dont think a Lyn upskirt is what kept her out of Brawl.
That would be a dumb reason depending on if there's more detail up Zelda and Peach's dresses.  They're just video game characters!!  What kind of weirdo perverts would do something like that?
I've seen articles on Kotaku about that...
Where's Kotaku?

Those are hot undies. I wonder what Zelda's looks like ::)
Please die now.  That's disgusting, pervert.
Every guy is a pervert, whether it be in their mind only or known by many, but if a man isn't perverted, they may not be straight.

Olol a sarchasmz ditactor. Hai 5!

Shut the hell up with abuse of the Peach Cam. That was just to show you how much attention to detail Nintendo puts into ALL aspects, even ones that are seldom seen.

Frankly, if you can't be mature at all, you can leave this board.

@Topic: No, he is not sexist. There were only a few good choices for female characters (Krystal being one of them), but with the roster we have, it is fair to say that a lot of our wanted characters are not in. No, it is not sexism.

Seriously, how did I not see this sooner. Get a life guys, even if you are joking, you need to be mature. /thread + /rant
