I know it's sort of pathetic not giving up on your wanted characters since the full roster's been leaked in all, but there were rumors by the end of this week saying Mewtwo and Roy could be announced as bonus characters for English and other versions of Brawl. But in Japan, they will be released as downloadables. Also, since Sakurai said this was the last smash than what's Nintendo gonna do with the franchise? They can't make a new game from scratch right? They're not Sakurai. Brawl's perfect in almost everyway but really the only way to improve it is to add more characters. What are your thoughts on downloadable characters and their possibilty.
The Wii can't handle it without a HDD.
And Nintendo thinks your Wii is a fridge.
I believe it would be great if the Wii supported it, but it doesn't.
Not likely
i really don't think so.. i wish :(

Really? Well, than that would mean Mewtwo and Ro don't have a chance than. I'm not locking the topic, though. There's too much locked topics as it is. This could be a good conversation anyway.

Without you answering, and me sounding patronizing, why do you think there are so many locked topics? Read first 3 words again.
Also, I believe it would be GREAT to have them both back, but then people would start whining that there are more clones :D

Good point about the locked topics. I'm sure people would rather have more characters though.

But what if people like Animal Crosser and Geno are downloadable?
it would be the best feature of smash
since it might be the last it would be a great idea
it would keep sales up for years
Not likely.
I wish should be a choice.

No, people are just saying that he replaced Mewtwo, but then I say PT replaced Pichu.
I want that rumor to be true, but don't believe it.
I REALLY want it to be true though. :(
It is certainly possibly, but I would say it's not likely at the same time. The Wii is certainly capable of it (if it had enough ROM), and there was the possibility that the game already contained the characters, but needed something minuscule like a Serial Number of sorts to unlock the characters. Of course, this is Nintendo, so that alone makes it unlikely.
I'm thinking likely. look at halo and all those downloadable maps... Sides, we have all these new channels coming out, and characters surely can't take up that much space... 'sides, what do you think the SD card slot is for?

Yeah, there's no excuse, especially since you can save photos directly to an SD card.

This isn't the 360, though.
Well if the info from the game isn't Wii encrypted like VC games then the download might be through your computer to an SD card

It would wipe out space on the Wii...
I not sure if the SD card would work out, although an SD card would have the needed amount of space, at least for a few characters.
1 GB isnt much though...

Maybe if Nintendo actually released a Hard Drive...
I think its possible! If a Psp can download a whole game demo (and make phone calls.)
I don't see why the wii can't download a character.
Though I don't think its likely.
You are forgetting; Nintendo doesn't know the meaning to any of this.

Doubtful.
Unless they really get serious about downloadable content, like what they did for MP3...
And would it be hard to install?

i dont think so
i think it would be something like downloading on the vc
i did research and they said that there was extra room on the game disk and that some characters had imprints in the game that once completed, may give you that character
If Nintendo released a Wii feature specifically for Brawl that would let you download characters that would be awesome. Except the only problem is that a new character changes everything. The character affects the target score, homerun contest, event matches, vs matches, etc so it would impact the game alot and also nobody said that US wasn't getting bonus characters. Japan for instance were the only ones to get Marth and Roy in melee leaving us with 23 characters so it's possible that our version could be different.

Yeah I was thinking that that would be the only way for the Wii to have DLC of that size.

Unlikely, it was probably due to translating since NOA took a 2 week holiday at the beggining of the year.
I still doubt it.
Nintendo only uses online to compete with Sony and Microsoft.
NEVER, EVER gonna happen.
Wii has only 512MB of RAM memory on it....which can barely handle a bunch of N64 games. No way a full character model from this generation will be able to fit in it. Hell, just the DEMO of Devil may Cry 4 had more in it than Wii's entire memory! So, unless Nintendo ever releases an accesable Hard Drive for the Wii, it's impossible....and since does Nintendo do anything SMART with their consoles? Which basically means, NEVER

Actually, character models aren't that huge, probably 100 MB the most. If we have them at launch, then it won't be a problem for us, and Nintendo of Japan is smarter about these things than NOA; they will probably have HDD's by the end of the year. Heck, they added DVD compatibility to Japanese GameCubes, so this certainly isn't a problem.

This isn't going to be the last Smash Bros.
I would like to see downloadable characters, but I think stages and trophies/stickers/songs would be more likely. They will probably release a bundle pack for 1000 Wii points. It would have a new stage, several songs that go with the stage, and some stickers/trophies that go with the game the stage comes from. $10 would be way too much money, but people would buy it anyway.
you know
its looking more likely cause nintendo will be releasing the wiiware feature where you can download games.
if thats possible then why wouldnt updated on the wii game be any different.
that obviously means that the wii will shortly be depending more on sd cards.

I wish. Hey! Remember when Nintendo said "when you wake up, you may get a new level or character" when first talking about the WiiConnect24? That pisses me off that they can't/probably won't do it for Brawl.
The DLCs got decomfirmed by Sakurai himself.
