Thinking about getting one. Until now I've been lazy and never really got into the whole iPod/Zen/Zune thing, mainly because I didn't listen to music much on the go, rather just mostly in my room with my laptop.
However, that's starting to change, and I feel the need to get an iPod or something like it.
My current iTunes collection is over 10 gigs, and I still have yet to import all my CDs, so a nano is basically out of the question, no matter what generation it is.
So I turned my sights to the Classic. I encountered some reviews of it that are less than favorable...some click wheel stuff, slower response overall, etc...but nothing too big to worry about.
But then...the reviewer on Amazon that criticized it came back later saying that he got his Classic replaced with a new one and his new one works much better in generally every way.
So...was the Classic updated? Does anyone here have a Classic and wouldst thou recommend it to a 19-year-old bucket of hormones such as myself?
AND NO I'M NOT BUYING AN IPOD TOUCH LKJ;LKJ

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I'm open to recommendations for Zunes or Creative Zens instead, but...I dunno, me having a PC as a primary computer is likely to change in the near future, so a Zune might end up being useless in less than a year for me.
I recommend getting a Sansa Connect. :B
4GB + microSD expansion.

I'd go for the 160 GB.
Only $100 more than the 80GB, and it's double the space.

I thought about that, but at this point I don't think I'd need that much. Even 80 is a surplus, really. I probably won't ever use more than 40 with just music, and I don't plan on keeping very many movies in there either.
If there was a 60 GB that would be like perfect, but there isn't, so 80 is good.

Why does everyone insist on putting their entire collection on their MP3 players? You're not going to find the time to listen to all of that darn music.

Because sometimes having your whole music collection on your MP3 player gives you more options as to what you can listen to at any given time.

No, but there's no sense in paying for the uneeded storage space.

Can't do that in high school, teachers and other staff ninny.
I have a pretty old iPod.
It's 20 Gigs and its black and white.
(I think it's about 3 years old)
Wasn't the iPod Classic updated to the iPod Video or was that updated to the iPod Touch?
Well, first of all you should probably compare your choices.
If you really want an iPod, then get the 60 gb (or 80, I can't keep track) to cover your music for the rest of your life.

It's 80. And the Classic is the only current iPod big enough for my collection, so there's not much comparison to be done.

Other way around. The Classic is like taking the iPod Video and upgrading nearly every part of it. It looks almost exactly like the Video, too.
I used to have a 4 gig mini. It was alright, had some battery issues though, and then I ran out of space. I got an iPod classic (the most recent generation) for 250 bucks, two months ago. It's got 80 gigs of space, great for the price - and I got it for the price I got an iPod mini with 4 gigs.
Definitely love this. I have 12 gigs of music on it right now, and like five music videos on it. I've never cared for MP3 players other than the iPod. iPod classic 80 gig is win.
And get it in silver, not black. Everyone has the black one.
Creative Zen since it sounds like you're going to keep growing. 32GB of flash plus an SDHC slot (but no integration yet...but still nice to have 64GB of solid flash if you're willing to get a 32GB card). Or wait for the Zen Share, which will probably have proper integration and more powerful parts in May.
By the way guys, I already ordered it.

I don't watch long videos, or in terribly high quality. :P
I use it for the music that I have, but I don't use my Ipod very often. usually for boring physics classes, boring driving trips (which aren't that terribly long in the first place) and not much else.
