Title: Un-official SSBB Online Sign Language thread! *Done?*
Post by: The_Waddle_Dee_Knight on March 08, 2008, 04:35:11 PM
Alright! Some of you may know me for making the online sign language thread for MSC. It was very praised for the most part, and now I'm gunna try and take it apart bit by bit, turning it into an SSBB sign language thread. :P Now, this is going to be in the making for a long time, so don't think these three "words" is it and all there ever will be. :P

NOTE:If you just want to know how to communicate on wifi just skip this part.

Since the dawn of metroid prime hunters for the nintendo ds, sign language in wifi games has been common for nintendo gamers. People have found out odd, but useful, quick ways to talk to one another during battles, and usually find there way making rivals and new friends on popular forums. I know what your thinking, "n00b, there is no useful or easy way to talk in games without friend codes.  You can also just use words in-puted on taunts and such in SSBB. Wow, your a bright one :l ." Well, maybe your not thinking that, but your probably slightly interested in this read right now. Whether you want to prove me wrong, or learn how to do basic "words" in SSBB, read ahead.

Now, I will tell you what certain actions mean, and notes about them. Easy right?

Crouching and standing up over and over and over (Gah, to many people use this one as teabagging to really know what is it -.- I may have to think of a new one...)=

I need to DC for something important!

NOTES: Yes. I already know what your thinking. People can abuse this very, very, very much. We already know that there are a lot of lying people out there, but this is a very good "word" to use with friends you trust. AKA:Good clan members/real life friends/close forum friends etc. Basically, if someone uses this on random match wifi, believe them. You can PM them if there in your clan or you know them on the forums, or you just want an answer for dcing. But please, DO NOT HASSLE THEM FOR DCING ON THE FIRST TIME! Just listen to there reason for dcing. You don't have to believe them, but they might be telling the truth. Although, if you find that they do this same technique (especially when they are losing) again sometime in the next match, well, they might be a dcer. Now once again, DO NOT HASSLE THEM FOR DCING. Just ingnore all pms you recieve from them if they are sending you more responses of how it wasn't there fault. It's totally up to you if you want to forgive them or not. Just politely tell them that you just can't trust them for a while via pm. By the way, when I say "important", I mean things like that you have to go eat dinner, or you need to go out somewhere (if your getting a hair cut, getting gifts for someone, going to a movie etc.). You know, stuff like that!  In a wifi wii game called Mario Strikers Charged, I remember a time where I had to run to the kitchen, grab a piece of pizza while holding my wiimote and numchuck, and then run back to where I was playing! I let a goal go through because of that... So, just keep this trick in mind when something like that happens, ok? :P

Running in Back and forth (FYI, tapping the control stick/D pad back and forth)=

After the match, check your pms!

NOTES: I can see this one being used a lot! If you want to discuss the game you just had, or just to say good game, use this anytime in the match! Unfortunately, having an anonyms random match wifi, I can really only see this one working on Friend matches. :S Also, please do not send hate pms on how they were ?cheap?. IF SOMEONE IS USING A STRATAGY OVER, AND OVER, AND OVER AGAIN, LIKE RUNNING FROM THE PLAYER FOR MORE THEN 30 SECONDS, then, AND ONLY THEN, can I see people using hate pms about the match they just had. I still do not want people sending nasty pms like that, but, if the above does happen, you can just say that they were abusing a strategy, and that's all. Just don't make contact with that person, block them if you wish. It's just oh-so-much easier to not say anything at all. Lastly, if hate threads start coming up, you all know that making hate threads will probably get you a ban. :l

Using your normal up attack (A up) on the ground over and over again "Standard motion is for a character to stand on the far Left or Right side of a stage
and press the "down" arrow repeatedly"=

BRB!

NOTES: To start this off, I'm just going to say that for this one to work, you are gunna have to use this move as fast as you can without someone pelting you. Even though if you get knocked halfway across the field, use Ukemi to get right back up and start mashing those buttons again. Eventually, after seeing someone look like a idiotic maniac ( :P ), they should get the message. Now, this word is a very helpful word in which, if your playing with a friend, or trusted online friend, and need to do something (take a bite of pizza, go to the washroom etc.), just use this ?word?! THIS WORD CAN BE VERY RISKY TO USE ONLINE, YOU CAN NEVER REALLY TELL IF THEY ARE GOING TO TURN ON YOU!!! To come back to the game and tell your opponent your there... Well, move!  Although, you should check and see if your opponent is moving as well, they might of left too!

Since StarwindWizard has made one already, I might as well replace it with mine. :P Credit goes to him, and since I am doing this without asking, I guess I gotta post the link to his thread. XD Here you go: http://nsf.projectfcd.com/index.php?topic=23653.0
Unfortunately, this will probably only work by playing a stock match due to the timer on regular Brawls :S

Entering and leaving a game=

Join my game!

NOTES: Ever get annoyed how that, when you go on wifi, someone is already on and has a match set, with some of your friends in it? When you enter it, you then gotta wait your turn to vote for the rules and items, right? Then guess what? You get stuck with a 5-minute COIN MATCH. :l Well, if that ever happens to you, use this word! Just keep on joining and leaving your friends game (whether they accept you or not). After about, let's say, 5 times, they will get the memo that it is NOT an error, and they will probably leave the game and go back to the lobby. :P OTHER USE: If you wanna contact somebody on your list via your comment (like you wanna fight somebody but they are in a different game) you could use this to get them to leave. Since your online (or even better, searching for a brawl) your name and comment should appear close, if not itn, the top 3. ;)

Crouching, then punching (neutral A attack) into the direction of an item=

Get the item!

NOTES: Alrightly then, so your in a 1 on 1 or tag team match, and you find yourself open and have a few seconds to taunt, run around etc. Well, if you happen to see an item appear, and want to tell your partner/foe to grab it, use this word! I find it pretty useful when someone wants to let another get a smash ball or team healer. Try it!

NOTICES:

CONCERNING TAUNTS
When palying matches with friends, you can attach small worded sentences. Using this, you can communicate just by using taunts, and that's probably all your going to want, right? Maybe. Using this thread is TOTALLY OPTIONAL! However, using 3 lettered Acronimes such as "BRB" and "G2G" could take up many of your taunts, if not all. So, at least knowing 1 of these "words" could come in handy in matches, if your wanting to keep more taunt room.

As I stated before about the being cheap thing, I know stalling for time isn't the only strategy for being cheap, but if people use the same thing over, and over, and over, isn't that, at least, 0.01 % abusing it? Mixing strategies up is much more fun, which you keep your opponent guessing, and you can run circles around them!

Well... besides the possibility of me needing better ?gRamR EdUmaCatiON? and starting sentences with And... Not bad for a Piranha Plant, eh?

PS: Some credit goes to NDS for giving me the idea of pming your opponent after the match. Also, some credit goes to Marth Xero for the match we had with mario and luigi. :P It inspired me to go and put up the item word. XD Finally, StarWindWizard for making the "so-much-more-better-BRB-word" XD No seriously, it was a lot better. :)

PSS: Guys, please don't copy and paste this somewhere else and say it's yours. Seriously.   This work belongs to me, and my account on the real Nsider. So, this work can also be incorperated with TheWaddleDeeMaster on NSider... EXCEPT for the people mentioned above that helped me make this with their ideas. Those guys own their stuff. XD Makes sense, right?

I highly doubt this will work here, just because While your running back and forth, or crouching, standing, etc. Your gonna get owned. :P
MSC there is time to do this stuff, here, one frame could cost you the match.

Yes, as stated in my "BRB" topic, I said "To start this off, I'm just going to say that for this one to work, you are gunna have to use this move as fast as you can without someone pelting you. Even though if you get knocked halfway across the field, use Ukemi to get right back up and start mashing those buttons again. Eventually, after seeing someone look like a idiotic maniac ( :P ), they should get the message." I also explained that in the "I need to DC for something Important!" topic, that it is best used (heck, all of these are best used)  with friends. I mean, a random person on wifi wouldn't care really, but if a friend was trying to tell you something, you might listen then.

At least if you are playing a friend you can customize your taunts.

Thanks for the comment! I plan to get this thing going after about 2-4 weeks after Brawl, considering if I don't have any big projects planned (which I might :S ).

Smash World Forums is probably going to come up with it's own little set of rules, which will probably become the "official" ones, similar to how taunting at the start of a "random" match means agree to not use items (save AT's since if u accidentally pick one up you cant let go of it).

Alright, since Starwindwizard posted his BRB movement among fellow NSFers, I'm replacing his with mine, because confussion gets minimized, and I think his is a lot better. XD This might be my final update, unless I get more ideas or want to fix my grammar. XD

All that's left to say is to have fun brawling with words!... Did that come out right? :P
