Nintendo does it all of the time with their handhelds.  Microsoft does it constantly with the Xbox.  Sony with the PS2 and PS3.

It's your fault for not paying attention to when Apple is launching a new product.

Apple has always been like that, they charge more for a machine that can't run necessary software. They sell on looks not function.

I also hate how people say how apple isn't like microsoft. apple is just as bad, when you buy a mac you have apple hard ware and software, where atleast when you buy a PC you have a choice in who makes your hardware.

Uhm, no not really. People have a week or two notice.  If it bothers you that much, return it and get a new one.

I also hate how people say how apple isn't like microsoft. apple is just as bad, when you buy a mac you have apple hard ware and software, where atleast when you buy a PC you have a choice in who makes your hardware.

But that means that Apple ISN'T like Microsoft.  Apple controls everything - hardware and software - since they make all their products like they only exist in their own little world.  MS (until Xbox and Zune) has been like any other software company, since you could buy pretty much any PC hardware from any of the gazillion manufacturers and their software would be compatible.  Why shouldn't Mac OS be compatible with your average Dell?  Apple wants you to buy their exclusive line of computers.
