Title: Boss Battles help
Post by: ssbmfan5 on March 23, 2008, 09:45:36 AM
How are you supposed to beat boss battles on very hard and intense?   These are the only two challenges that I have left, and I know some people have beat them.  Are there any special characters or strategies, etc., that I should use.  It gets really frustrating. >:(

Pick a good character and repeat its best move on the boss while avoiding getting attacked.  I use
Game and Watch's
B-Smash and that does a good deal of damage, especially
the numbers 5 (the electricity one, I think), 8, and 9
.  Then if if versing
Meta Ridley
, I find that a few of those B-Smashes and a B-Up then an A-Down is good while he's right below you.

Since there is 10 bosses (you clicked the thread, I'm spoiling you guys), use a Heart Container every four bosses, or when you are at/over 100% damage.  Use one right before Tabuu.

did this work for you, or are you just guessing, cause I want to save myself the frustration.

Ike works for very hard, if you are DECENT with him.

You have to know which attack to use when, really. Slower characters can get beat down by his side-smash, faster ones are going to take his specials to be beaten. If you happen to get in close, exceptions being Petey and flying characters, his up special can dish out damage fast. It is all about timing though, I can maybe post a vid later, but I am yet to try intense.

Using the hearts is also key......it just depends on what goes down.

Also, please remove any sprites from your sig that may be considered spoilers.

Use your best character is all I can say.

I can get pretty far with
Lucario
but
Tabuu
always gets me. D:

Well, in my experience with the Boss Battle Mode, I've found that Lucas's PK Thunder kills Ridley, Meta Ridley, and Galleom pretty easily. Of course, that was on Hard mode, so I'm not sure if that applies here. Most of the bosses succumbed to it, at least. Another tactic I used was use
Toon Link
and spam his down air, which killed all the bosses pretty quickly.

Diddy is a tank. I went back and did each of the bosses in in the SSE in very hard, I rarely had to go to my second person.

But remember, this is Boss Mode. You only have three recovery items, whereas in SSE, your health is replenished by the numerous items in the stage and also after beating a stage.

So true.

I just use
Toon Link's Downward Thrust.
It works every time.

and is this on intense?  I'll give it a try, but it doesn't sound very plausible

I tried it multiple times and it didn't work.  I got up to tabuu once, but I died.  Also, does anyone know if it will still unlock the challenge if you do it co-op?  Cause that would save me a lot of time.

Use Charizards Rock Smash. It's VERY satisfying. :) And co-op won't work.
