Title: What were you doing on...
Post by: Tupin on March 28, 2008, 08:04:44 PM
September 11th, 2001?

I was getting ready for school (I was in the first grade) and I was watching Little Lulu for some reason.

That's when I heard about the first plane colliding. I didn't know what really happened, but my dad was flying to Philadelphia so my mom was worried.

He was on the tarmac when the pilots were informed and then he drove home.

I was in school, my mom had to come pick me up. I was young at the time, I was just happy to get out of school. That is, until I realized what actually happened.

True.

I probably left out details on WHY I didn't know till later that day, but since I forget them, I can only assume.

I was in Science class, trying to wake myself up.

My teacher was pulled out of the classroom, then she came back in with a TV.  I watched the news in every class after that.

I was in the 3rd Grade and I was already in school.

Everybody was mysteriously starting to leave early.
They wouldn't tell us what happened, but by the time we got to lunch, rumors were spreading.

Eventually my mom picked me up and I found out the truth.

In middle school... um... I don't really remember much.  I wasn't quite sure what happened.  I wasn't exposed to much of it at the time.. but I of course eventually found out... but it was all so confusing to me.  I.. saw what happened... but I didn't understand it... it made no sense to me for a long time.  I came to realize it eventually too but... you know.. I still don't understand it if you know what I mean.

Somehow I knew what the rest of the question was going to be from reading the title.

Anyway, I was in school, watching TV after we had learned that the first plane hit.

I was in 7th grade, about 12 years old, During homeroom  the teacher (stereotypical teacher with white hair and giant mole, who hates kids) Just casually announces that a plane crashed into one of the towers of the world trade center.

At the time I didn't even know that the world trade center and the Twin Towers were the same thing...so I was confuzzled. No one would tell us anything, and we just went on with the day as usual.

I was also in the first grade, about to go to school. Then I heard about the first plane crashing, but I didn't really care, and saw the second plane crash on the news. I then pretended to be scared and used that as an excuse to take the day off. :)

Maybe she knew you or your classmates were not ready to hear what was really going on. All the death and caos that was going on. Why the extremist group was doing that. Etc etc.

I think i was in 3rd grade, when i first saw the video's on the news i thought it was a movie. I guess my mind couldn't understand then that someone would do something like that in real life.  Then after that i remember my teacher talking about it. I remember kids in my class after that said some of them could see the smoke from their house....

I remember it like it was yesterday, I was in 10th grade sitting in the back of the room in some media literacy  class with two friends, and over the PA the principal said "Good morning this is Miss. Stone, I've just received some very disturbing news, a plane has just hit the world trade center, and there has been unconfirmed reports of explosions at the White house and Pentagon" they would not tell us anything after that, needless to say everyone was freaked out

I was in 4th grade, taking a spelling test or something. The teacher's aide came in and told us, and then we kept hearing about it for the rest of the week.

I was a stupid kid when I was growing up, I didn't understand what had happened or why it was important, and I can remember being annoyed that some TV show wasn't on, and wouldn't be on for the rest of the month.
