Okay, let me explain:
I was fighting as Marth one time and I used Critical Hit on a Yoshi (I think. I don't remember who I used it on.), and it hit him...but instead of flying off the screen, he flew off a few feet (Around 2.). The damage was REALLY low too.
Today I was using Toon Link against Ganondorf, and I used his Final Smash. Two slashes into the Triforce Slash...and he stopped. He dropped down. The only thing there was a Nova Bomb (But it didn't explode.) and a Yoshi (Who had respawned, but kept his distance.)!
Could anyone tell me HOW these failures occured?
was yoshi on his second jump at the critical? that might have done something.

Try this, which I've done once:
Somehow, when Link starts his final smash, if you are far enough away (Maximum striking distance), you can wiggle the control stick, before he gets to you, and escape it as if you escaped a throw.
