Like 10 years ago, they were memorable AND served their purpose.
It's not like they improved truth in advertising, so I guess they just ran out of ideas.

Go through Youtube and look through commercials you remember. Instead of being all excited and thinking "oh, I remember that," try to compare them to commercials these days. They're not really any better. There's exceptions, sure, but commercials have always been annoying one way or another.
At least these days we have better effects to use and people generally spend more in making commercials. Some 90s commercials, especially toy ones, just make me cringe...like those god-awful Dr. Dreadful commercials and poop like that.
