"Emo" people definitely don't believe in mutilation of the body. Not all "emo" people cut themselves... while some people that are definitely not "emo" DO cut. It's not something they believe in.... it's something that some people fall into the habit of. It's a cry for help and it's not something that should be mocked.
And not everyone that cuts does it out of depression or desperation. Scarring is an art to some that's similar to tattooing but without the ink. There's no emotional dilemna for those that scar for art. That's just their style.
Cutting doesn't make or break who is "emo" or not. Stupid stereotypes...
