Title: Sonic Unleashed
Post by: DSWiiMaster42 on April 13, 2008, 02:20:13 PM
This November, a new Sonic game will be released, and it is called Sonic Unleashed. 98% of the Sonic fans were completely disappointed with Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic '06 (I thought they were good games though), so Unleashed will make up for those games. The game engine has been in development for 3 years, so we can tell it's going to be good.

Let's go into details.

Title: Sonic Unleashed
Publisher: Sega
Developer: Sonic Team
Consoles: Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PS2
Genre: Platformer
ESRB rating: Not rated yet, but the last two major Sonic games (ShTH and Sonic '06) were rated E10+, so I bet this one will be rated E10+ as well.

About the game: This game will bring Sonic back to his old roots, just like what Sonic Advance, Sonic Rush, and Sonic Rivals did. Sonic '06 brought just the CHARACTER Sonic back to his old roots because of his classic light blue color from the Genesis era and the fast speed in Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, but Unleashed is going to do way more than that. It features 2D-style gameplay, but 3D graphics. The storyline is a bit strange though, Sonic turns into a werewolf, during the day he's just his regular hedgehog self, but at night he turns into an ugly, hairy werewolf. I'm not sure how he's going to undo the werewolf curse, but we'll find out once the game is released.

I am so hyped up for this game, what about you?

I hope it has a Chao Garden, I mean it IS Sonic Adventure 3.

I hope so too, it was so fun to take care of Chao, and they were just so cute.

Lesee...

...Consoles: Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PS2...

Multiplatform? Uh-oh.  We know what that means.

...and Sonic Rivals...

Really? My opinion seems to differ.

... It features 2D-style gameplay, but 3D graphics...

Hunh. Maybe. The previews I saw were throigh0and through 3D platforming, not 2D at all.

This game has some good signs and some bad ones.
...This one BETTER have a chao garden :P...
And maybe you could download the garden to your DS and then upload the progress? Maybe? Please?
I dunno.
I just want the Chao garden :x.
And maybe some decent Chao events.

The reason why I said Sonic Rivals (even though I never played it) is because the levels turn/twist around like the levels in Unleashed, and it's kind of old-school Sonic platforming but with 3D graphics.

With controls, this game is seeing hope because of being multiplatform unlike Secret Rings. I'm hoping to similar controls to the two Sonic Adventure games, even on the Wii version (something like joystick=move, A=jump, Z=roll, dpad=camera).
For Chao, I really hope they're on it. The lead chao programmer of both Sonic Adventure games is the lead designer of this game (source, second to last paragraph) (http://www.tssznews.com/2008/04/09/new-sonic-unleashed-details-from-onm/)
With playable characters, I hope Tails, Knuckles, etc. will be playable on stages similar to Sonic's without the treasure hunting or mech suit, though it so far looks like only Sonic is playable.
I so far don't really like the Beast Sonic factor in gameplay and storyline but there is chance of it being done well.
The graphics appear really smooth and with a nice and somewhat cartoonish mood set from them... I like it that way.
In setting, the places seem to have much variety like the classic and Adventure games and unlike Secret Rings.

The game looks good and I hope the Chao do make a return. I haven't played 2006, but Secret Rings disappointed me (first Sonic game to do so.) I hope the game does inherit the good that is in Sonic Adventure 2.

The last Sonic the Hedgehog game for the Wii sucked ass. This one better not be as dissappointing. As for Sonic turning into a Werewolf? Er... No. It seems like it will be dissappointing, but I really want the game to pull it off. I'm sick and tired of playing all the old, old Sonic games because all this Next Gen Sonic poop doesn't even come close in comparison. I'll still get Sonic Unleashed, whether I like it or not, just because of my love for Sonic the Hedgehog.

Oh, and hail Chao Garden!

My opinion: Sonic looks like he fusioned with Banjo of Banjo-Kazooie.

There was a chao garden in adventure 1 and 2.
So I bet it'll be in "adventure 3"

I bet the official title will be this.

"Sonic adventure 3 unleashed"

I don't like the whole werwolf concept either...

But this game has a good chance of being the revival of Sonic.

and the hedgehog engine also ups that chance.

PLEASE GOD DON'T LET THEM SCREW THIS ONE UP

AND PLEASE DON'T GIVE US SHITTY SECRET RINGS CONTROLS FOR THE WII VERSION.

Jeez, Secret Rings' controls aren't that bad. They were way easier than the controls on the Wii version of Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity.

The Wii game will be completely different.

Sonic Team is making the PS3/360 versions, Dimps is making the Wii version.

Even when I had fully charged batteries....

Is Dimps better than Sonic team?

The only game so far that COULD be the best game ever with Sonic is SSBB.

Too bad is not his franchise. :D ;D ::) :-\ :| :( :O ;) :D

Yeah, because they made the Sonic Advance and Sonic Rush series. Sonic Team developed a portion of each one, but Dimps developed the most part.

The Wii version is more of a 2.5D game like Sonic Rush. Once the game is released, I'll have to see whether I should buy the Wii version, the 360 version, or both.
