It seems like it to me. It does seem like they have less pokemon. Is it because of how often certain pokemon come out, or do they really have less pokemon than in Melee?
Point out that you mean Pok?ball Pok?mon, I thought you meant playable for a sec.
It's because Chansey and Clefairy aren't in. ::)
I miss them. ;_;

There were 3, but D/P added another, so it's actually 4.

I completely forgot about Chansey. Maybe it's because they got rid of the egg as an item >_>
Now that I think about it, it really does feel like there are less Pokemon.
I think that there are really common Pokemon that appear 95% if the time.
It could be because alot of the new Pokemon shouldn't have been put in like Munchlax, and I can't spell or remember the other names but you all know who I'm talking about.
Most of them were removed and replaced w/new ones.
I think it's partly because a lot of the newer ones have really high rates of appearance. There might be less, but if there is, it can't be by much. There may actually be more...it's just that you don't see several of them very often.

*=Counts as one pokemon.
It seems that there is the exact same amount of pokemon in Meelee and in Brawl. I think the fact that it SEEMS like more pokemon are in Meelee is because there are only a few VERY rare pokemon, with a lot of mediocre-rarity and common pokemon making up most of the roster, while Brawl has quite a few of rare pokemon, with more Super Rare pokemon than Meelee, causing you to see MORE of certain pokemon, giving you the illusion that there are more pokemon in Meelee than in Brawl.
Hope that makes sence! ;)

Gulpin and Gardevoir are some of the most useful common Pokemon in the game. Well, Gardevoir is only useful if you're fighting someone who's projectile-happy.
