You know the deep far away future? Like with robots, floating houses, hovercrafts, interacting with games by walking into them, and the like. While cool (ish), it's just impossible. What do you think the future will be like? Like will it be similar to the movies, with or without robots, aliens, or an experiment going wrong and the world will be in peril? Will it be a slightly more advanced version of what it is now?
What's your opinion? What do you think the future will be like, in 7-20 years from now? I feel as though it won't be much more advanced than it is now, despite what everyone says. A few features of daily life will probably change, but I don't think that we'll be as advanced as certain people say.
What new features do you think the future will have? Like new forms of currency, new forms of transportation, new computers, ipods as big as an ant, lack of elephants, a way to fuse human and machine (NEVER!), ect...
Also, opinions only! If you have to act like a smarta**, and try to explain how advanced the future will be, then get the f*** out. >:(
Option A: Brighter Tomorrow
Option B: Thunderdome Apocalypse
20 years? A move toward hydrogen cars and nanotechnology. I'm also hoping there'll be some breakthroughs in biology and modern physics.
The distant future? The future will be quite different to the present, except that it'll still be called the present even though it's the future...and what we call the present, they'll call the past, so we'll be way behind. There will be no more elephants, and no more unethical treatment of elephants either. There will be no more humans. Finally, robotic beings will rule the world!
The humans are dead
The humans are dead
They'll use poisonous gases
And they'll poison our asses
The humans are dead
(that's right they'll be dead)
The humans are dead
(I do believe they'll be dead)
It had to be done
(I just confirmed that they'll be dead)
So we could have fun
(Affirmative, I poked one it was dead)
....

Distant future...Mars is being terraformed, Venus is our garbage dump, and the ISS is a resort. Beside that, I can't say for sure.
Computers and nanochips will be embedded in everything.
Gasoline will rise to thousands of dollars a barrel and the industry will collapse.
Hydrogen power will be used for everything.
And of course, most developed nations will land on the moon and some will land on Mars.

It depends. If every one starts to get there act together and start to take better care of the planet it will be a good future. But if we don't things will get bad. Welcome fellow optimist!
Within ten years, oil will cost like $500-$600 a barrel.
In twenty years when all the petroleum reserves are gone, the oil market will collapse.
Alternative energy will lessen the blow on the economy in America, but it will bring the nation of Russia to its knees.
i dont know if this would be too far in the future but i could see humans beginning to explore other planets and making them their own
maybe much further after that humans may evolve different ways

That oil thing is interesting but I hope we come up with something that don't give out any greenhouse gases soon. And also about the AIDS thing. In by biology class we watched a documentary about disses where they compared aids to the black death (at least I think it was the black death). Any way they did some kind of study and it said a certain percentage (I can't remember what it was) of the population devolved an immunity to it. In other words they evolved so that the disease can't kill them.

alternate energy sources will be a must
As per usual nothing notably big will happen.
After all, people all thought we'd have flying cars by 2000 in the 1940's - 1960's (which is fundamentally flawed in itself).
Sure, technology will continue to enhance our lives, but it won't be anything drastic or something in hindsight we should have all seen coming (ipod like storage devices were going to happen regardless of the company that did it first).
Probably the only drastic changes will be in wars considering the middle east is in a fast track to basically start world war 3 in upon itself.
and jeezus christ some alternative energies would be nice Federal policy makers!
I don't know, but there's one thing for certian.
Genetically engineered living things. They're already doing so with plants, are close to doing so to make a organism that can make ethanol in 1 stage instead of 2.
Now, imagine. If they can do that, what could we benefit from said engineering? For one, I can see cyanide resistant humans. Same goes with many other toxins. We could genetically engineer people to possibly never need to breathe, if we push it.
But, I also have many dreams to enhance the future myself. Like finding ways to get around complicated home redecorating, the complications of wiring your house, and everything to weapons. Oh, how would you like a back-up power source that was powered by something that destroys houses, and powers your basement? I have an idea for that. But, getting away from me.
I can see major upgrades to our power grid. You know, solar energy and all that. Oh, the possibilities...

i strongly disagree with that
there have been a lot of new changes in the past decade that have completely revolutionized this time
computers, ipod(as you said), and so many worldwide problems
technology is growing so fast that people just cant keep up with it
i have a feeling that there will be huge increases in energy alternatives, genetics, and space discoveries
most predictions are wrong but as of now it is expected that life of some kind will be discovered before 2020.

LIKEOHNOES! Robots are going to rule the world. RUN!
"running out of gas" isn't about to happen. synthetic oil already exists, it's just not massively available. if there's ever an oil crisis at which time the prices would skyrocket, governments would freeze gas prices providing there was actually enough to go around.
different oil is needed though.

Oh, the possibilities...
im pretty sure people will always need to breathe
like i said genetic engineering for foods and humans will become quite popular
i also suspect that solar energy will double its use
What about organisms that ferment sugar to get energy, instead of respirate?
Get those genes in us, and who knows? Maybe we won't. Although I suspect if that ever happens, we'd need to go to the bathroom more often :-X
but those are extremely single organisms
the more complex organism, the more compex bodily functions
we have blood, veins, a heart
these are all oxygen dependant
which means thats a lot of wasted room to ferment sugar
Oh, I forgot about that part. Good point.
Well, at least we could make ourselves resistant or immune to more toxins.
