Title: What do I do for Rock Band?
Post by: Kilroy on May 05, 2008, 06:54:52 PM
Currently, I'm stuck with playing Rock Band at a friend's house, which doesn't bother me, but I'd like something a little closer to home.

Now, do I go for 360 or Wii? Here's my situation.

My 360 has multiple personalities. It'll go like "o hey kameo: elements of power!" and play fine, no errors or poop. Then, randomly, it'll go "halo tres? DEAD OR ALIVE FOUR???? SOUNDS DELICIOUS!!! *eats*" and will pretty much consume the disc off of the tray making an... unwanted sound.

HOWEVER, my Wii is still completely functional.

So, pros and cons.

Rock Band for 360 Pros

DLC
Prettier in-game (Like that matters)
Online (To my knowledge, the Wii version doesn't have)

Cons:

I have to wait 8-12 weeks for a repair
I risk the 360 eating the game if I don't repair it

Wii Pros

Prettier Instruments
Won't do anything to the disc
No waiting for repairs

Cons:

No Online (I think)
No DLC
Less pretty in-game

I'm really leaning towards the Wii version, since I'm too lazy to wait.

Thoughts?

The Wii game will have extra songs, but they are releasing it in several volumes at retail for $30 each.

The 360 version is going to be superior. Are you placing your system horizontally or vertically? The Xbox I mean.

So true. That's my other option for 360. Save for a month and then get an Elite with Rock Band.

That doesn't really matter to me >_>

Although, my character at my friend's house can't be beat.

Everyone in the band has the most expensive clothing/instruments. So there's capes, face paint, crazy hair-doo's, etc.

I, however, am wearing glasses, jeans, a gray hoodie, and I have generic gray hair. I'm vocalist XD

I think the Wii version also doesn't have custom character creation. Not sure though. Might have changed it.

I like the Xbox 360 one. You can talk to people and have online fun. Also there are achievements, which I find add more fun to games, it gives you something to try and unlock. Yuuup.

Xbox 360.  this isn't even a question.  anyone who gets the Wii version only does so because they don't have a 360 to play it on.

I just got 200 dollars for Confirmation and most likely another 300 coming from my Birthday. Since I agreed with my dad to save half/spend half of what I get, that's 250$. Elites are what, 400? 500? Either way, I can wait until Christmas if I really wanted an Elite, which the only reason I want it is for the color :P

Really though, $200 just for being accepted into a church. That's not what religion is made for.

Plus, why would you buy another Xbox if you already have one?

$200 is way too much for a Confirmation. The only way I could see that money being given during something religion related is a bar mitzvah.

I stated that as a con of getting Rock Band for 360. I'd like to get it back in 4-6 weeks, not 6-12 weeks.

Well, I got money from two people. I got $50 from my Grandma who was like "omg i lurv u" and she had already owed my $50, so she gave me that on the same day, then my Sponsor gave me an 100 dollar check.

I'm getting a new DS soon, also :P

I would say that Confirmation is the Christian equivalent of the Bar/Bat Mitz-Vah.

You're officially becoming part of your religion and in reality, how you choose to continue your relation with God is up to you.

If you really don't want to be patient for a free repair you could always just buy a new disk drive for your 360.

If you get the game for the Wii instead, then you could still get the DLC, just in disk form: http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/05/rock-band-track-pack-vol-1-coming-to-ps2-wii-this-july/

The only downside to this is that you can't pick and choose what songs you want to purchase. And plus you have to wait for each new disk with new DLC to be released.

Get it for Wii if you think the 360's functionality is an issue.
Sure it won't have half the stuff, but...it's still Rock Band. I'll take what I can get.

I suggest get the 360 version because of the character creator, online play, and DLC. And my 360 doesn't screw up when I put in a game, if yours screws up so much then you should trade it in for the Pro or Elite model.
