Title: Playing As Someone Else?
Post by: JrDude on May 29, 2008, 04:12:49 PM
I think there should be a Zelda game where you don't just play as Link. You should sometimes be able to play as someone else as well, kinda like MM but your actually someone else. In Phantom Hourglass you could play as some Goron kid, but only in 1 level and in a mini game. I was thinking that you could use maybe Zelda/Sheik/Tetra, or a Goron, or a Zora, and a bunch of other stuff. Maybe even a game where you can play as Ganondorf.

Before I read this, I predict no.
I think there should be a Zelda game where you don't just play as Link. You should sometimes be able to play as someone else as well, kinda like MM but your actually someone else.
Yet, you play as Link in a different form. It's still Link.

In Phantom Hourglass you could play as some Goron kid, but only in 1 level and in a mini game.
Gongoron? Yeah...but that's the only exception.

I was thinking that you could use maybe Zelda/Sheik/Tetra,(Play CD-i much? NO.) or a Goron (NO), or a Zora (NO), and a bunch of other stuff.

Maybe even a game where you can play as Ganondorf.
Congratulations, you're insane!
No. Link and Link only.

I actually like that, to be honest. I would love a chance to destroy link, as Ganon, or even a game completely based around a new character. The LoZ universe could use a new hero...even for one game.

I thought that is what Toon Link was for ::)

But I do not agree. It should be naive Link

A ganon game!? Cool! It could be what Shadow the Hedgehog was to the sonic series: Overall darker.

all they got to o is not make it like the wand of gamelon or watever...

Like...a prequal. Before even the first Link.

But...who would you play as? ????

OH! You could play the evil side instead of the good. You'd probably play as Ganon, and you slowly spread out and conquer everything. However, it would have to be non-cannon, or be insignifigant within the overall story, otherwise there might be continuation issues. :-\

Not if they make it a game similar to SA2B.
When I say that, I mean be able to play as the Good side and the Evil. So maybe at first you play as Link, then you play as Ganondorf (whole different place), and start evil things, but in the end, you play as Link and defeat Ganondorf.

That's a good idea. I mean they've had so many Zelda games; they could deffinately experiment with something new like that.

Wow, that would work out well.

I actually like this idea.

I would LOVE to play as Zelda or Ganon.

It would definitely bring something new to the table.

No, Ganondorf has to be on an adventure too, it's not like he can just teleport to all the places he goes to. And if he could, he could easily get all 3 triforce pieces.

Also, you people SAY "Link and Link only", but when a game comes (if it comes), then about half (or less or more) will be glad it happened because it was fun to them.

Haven't you heard the rumors of the next Zelda game?
Supposedly you don't play as Link, you play as a person who
thinks he's the Hero of Time. It takes place during the Great Flood
of Hyrule.

WW Link had no connection to the previous Links.

Also, while new ideas for the series are great, playing someone other than Link doesn't seem very likely.

I can't help but want to play as Kafei in some sort of MM spin-off...

A Ganondorf game would be badass. Would it be about him rising through power in OoT, or just him kicking ass before the Great Flood?

Sounds like fun.
You could play as Ganon as a wee lad, and you get to adventure around Gerudo Desert and Hyrule. Throughout the whole game Ganon could get more and more jealous of the fields of Hyrule, and learn about the Triforce and whatnot. By the end of the game, you're crazy and ready to start the events of OoT :P
But who would you fight then...  ????

Just invent a new character that's a negative influence on Gannon's life and helps to lead him down that path of evil, like a former leader of the Gerudo clan or something along those lines.  Have Gannon kill him/her at the end of the game to cement his evil evolution.

I would rather just play another game in the Zelda continuation as Link, though.

Nintendo did that with the Zelda BSX games back in 1995. No one likes to play as the BSX guys and the rom images are mostly modified to insert Link.
