Title: Scored a free computer
Post by: RevolutionSoldier on May 30, 2008, 10:01:51 PM
I went for a walk today when I found a computer setting by the curb on my neighbors lawn. I don't know if it works yet because I don't have the the right cords to plug it in with. There around here somewhere but my dad's the only one who know where they are and he's at work right now. Even if it does not work I plan on fixing it. The only computer I have right now is the family computer and it sucks. Maybe I can get this one working if it's even broken.

Did you ask your neighbors before you took their poop?

I tried but no one answered. I lefted it there and went to a party. Then it started raining so I called my mom and asked her to bring it in so it didn't break. I should go asked them tomorrow if they were throwing it away.

If they wanted it they wouldn't have left it out.

Still, you can't go around stealing people's garbage.

How is it stealing if its garbage? But still I should probably asked. One of them is a cop and trash day is not for a few days so it wired they would throw it out today.

"One man's trash is another man's treasure."

But yeah, you should still let others know that your taking their junk just so they'll know where it went off to.

It's more than likely poop and/or completely borked beyond repair.

If the hard drive is still in it, you should tell them to erase it. Common issue with getting computers from other people.

thats cool, I found my new old computer that way. It was an old 98 machine, but I found some good software for it and it runs better than the Vista computer my family uses.

I got a changed to talk to my neighbor today and he was throwing it out. All it needs is a new hard drive he said. And I guess an OS.

A nice HD and OS shouldn't be much.

I have a Mac so there is no point in calling me a fanboy for telling someone to use Linux.  >:(

I was thinking about running Ubuntu via a virtual machine but I don't know if this computer will even be able to run it. I have to wait a week or two before I can afford a hard drive to see if i can get  it to work.

See, I would dual-boot Ubuntu, but my hard drive isn't exactly what people would call large by today's standards.

Because all you do is bash Windows and support Linux. JMV isn't annoying like that.
