Title: Is G&W broken?
Post by: Eizweir on June 01, 2008, 02:23:38 PM
Well, here's my topic of the day.  :|

In the Wii clan that I'm in, there are a TON of G&W users, including me.  One of our leaders keeps saying, G&W is broken, BROKEN, and cheap (it's not really complaining because he always wins us anyways :|)  So, I don't see how he is broken or cheap, it's just like saying Fox is high-tier.
So what do you guys think?

uhm I never use G&W so i wouldn't know. He is my least used character, I've only used him 9 times!!!! D:

I do find him difficult to get a hold of though. I often use grabs and i can never catch him.

Is he good? Definitely. Broken? No, not at all.

He lacks range.  If he had decent range, then he would definitely be broken.

His range isn't that bad. His main issues are how light he is, and how a lot of his attacks have start up lag, as well as they stay out for awhile so someone can just avoid it and then quickly punish him.

Agreed completely. Having played as G&W I know his ins and outs, and he does have obvious weaknesses. No character in this game is so good that they're broken.

Even snake, who's considered the best in the game by most people, isn't considered broken.
If you want broken, go play as Akuma in SSF2 turbo, or Magneto in MvsC2.

You want broken? Shin Akuma.

Not at all. They nerfed the only move I considered "broken", and there was never really anything wrong with him.

I really do think Ike is broken though :3

look at his upsmash, you have to almost be touching someone before the attack to hit the person.

But then both his f-smash, d-smash, fair, bair, d tilt, f-tilt, and up tilt all have disjointed hitboxes.

He certainly has gotten more powerful/faster than in Melee.  More the reason for me to use him ;D

He is better than he was in melee (he was my main in that one, and hes my main in this one)

I wouldnt say he's broken, just good in the hands of someone who can actually be good with him! ;)

He's certainly one of the better characters, but not broken.

Well, he does have a Self-Heal move and an OHKO move, but that's by luck and self heal is only when food is on.

He is fast, and only semi-light, and powerful for a lightweight. But his moves are pretty laggy, for a fast character.

Hmm. :-\

I consider him in the "sturdy" category. He isn't slow, he isn't fast, he's right in the middle and his attacks cover all types of situations nicely.

But still, that's nowhere even CLOSE to broken. It's nice, but not broken.

I wonder why he would say this. :-\

There is no broken character in Brawl. They seem to all be equal with their ups and downs

Equal? That's a laugh. But still. There are no broken characters in brawl. The closest you can get to broken in brawl in Snake.
As I said, if you want broken, go play as Akuma in SSF2 turbo or Magneto in MvsC.

I've seen Magneto do his thing (I think it was him and I think it was on youtube.), and yeah, he's invincible. :-\

Allegretto, I'll gladly tell him about your challenge, but he's not the best in my clan...
