Title: Dashdancing and Foxtrotting, are they even worth trying?
Post by: Eizweir on June 03, 2008, 06:39:18 PM
Tripping has made them really risky, are they worth it anymore?
Just wondering what you guys think :|

I speak for those who have not heard of either dashdancing or foxtrotting. Can you please explain what they are?

I don't think foxtrotting is very useful because of tripping, but dashdancing is still useful if you can pull it off well.  It doesn't seem to significantly increase the rate of tripping, and it's good for mindgames.  I wouldn't overuse it though because anytime you run, you increase your chance of tripping, even if only a little.

Do you plan to attend pro tourneis?
If not, then no.
Even then, I've seen few pros who dashdance anymore.

I'm not the best person to ask about these, but dashdancing is where you jam the control stick back and forth and your character stays in the dash animation, but facing different directions.  Used for mindgames.

Fox trotting is a bit trickier, I think.  I still need practice with it, anyways it's sort of like dashdancing, but instead it's in the same direction.  So instead of just running across the stage and holding the control stick down you repeadetly press the control stick in the same direction to try and maintain the dash animation; overall giving you more speed.
I'm not quite sure how Fox trotting works in Brawl, there are no good videos that I can find  :-\

I use it a bit.
It's helpful if you have a character that has a long dash attack, like luigi, but other than that it is pretty risky to use.
This is just coming from me though...
