Title: Just once for Metroid
Post by: FruitFlow on June 03, 2008, 09:46:24 PM
I'd like there to be a Metroid game focusing on Zero Suit Samus. A storyline where you play as only her throughout the entire game. Perferably on Wii. But I wouldn't mind it on DS. I've played and own all Metroid games and the only appearance ZSS ever made was in the scenes. So I would love to see this ZSS version of Metroid.

Oh, and please don't post comments like: "ZSS is Samus, why would you want another Metroid game with same character who has made an appearance in the same previous Metroid titles?"

Yes, true, I know she's been in the previous, but she's only playable as Varia/Power Suit Samus. This is just an idea I'd like to see happen in the near future.

Um... I read over this a few times but it doesn't clearly sound like you're addressing the time that you could actually play as ZSS during the GBA remake of the original game.

It was a bit limiting in terms of what you could and couldn't do.. regular shots, charge shots that stunned, and basic movement such as running, crawling, climbing.. and it was for only part of the game as well, but that's still worthy of being mentioned.

If there were to be a game like that.. where it's really focused on being without the armor.. it would make sense for it to be during the time before she dons the Power Suit from the Chozo or some totally new storyline that somehow takes the Power/Varia suit out of the mix and I'm not sure what would justify that..

If the suit's an option, she'll take it.  Something has to really obstruct her using it to make that work.. and her struggle and priority would become getting the suit back with her limited abilities... I guess you could have her act all acrobatic and add on to the gun's abilities.. but I feel like it wouldn't make up for her abilities with the suits.  The whole game would be about getting back in the armor and when you finally do, if you even do, you don't get to play as it.. or just for a final battle or something?  I dunno... all new gameplay and material, storyline-wise and more, would have to be crafted for something that radical...

I think it could work.. just.. it'd be VERY different from the current formula.. not necessarily bad.. but.. I'd like to hear why you want this and how it would/could make sense from your point of view. ^_^

I have a tendency to be critical sometimes and argue any point, no matter how valid.. just my nature.. so.. don't take much offense to me. >_>

She's weak and boring as ZSS though.

Ah, yes, so very true. But my concerns focus more on how they would make the game rather than her moveset and abilities. She could have all of her combat moves that she had from Brawl and possibly some techniques that can be learned, to assist her on her missions, along with some upgrades for her gun and maybe a few extra devices (Cloaking Device, Mines of some sort, etc.) as she ventures throughout the game. Also, she won't need her Power Suit for grappling since her whip already has that function. But focusing on the storyline, I agree that the storyline would be very different from the current formula. I'm not sure how it would work out, but I'll let you know if I come up with something.

Not technically true. I consider them even, seeing that they both have strengths that the other doesn't have. Samus is strong in firepower, but slow as heck. ZSS on the other hand is great in speed and agile, but not that great in power. To be honest, I take speed over power N/E day.

SUPERKOOL, that is a matter of personal opinion. I would enjoy a game mostly centered on ZSS. The storyline would probably involve Samus having a suit at the beginning then losing it somehow. Another possible story could take place before she receives the suit, with her trying to earn it from the Chozo. The game could start with Samus on a mission to prove her worth or something. After earning the suit, perhaps something would happen that would prompt her to use it, such as a Space Pirate attack or Metroid going wild. Something would suddenly disable the suit, perhaps a Chozo fail-safe or a Metroid sucking all its energy away but leaving Samus alive for some reason. I don't know. Just an idea. Don't flame!

I dont really care. I wouldnt mind if they did this, but I only like the First Person Shooter games (the Prime trilogy). Although if they made the game similar to Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, I would definately get it! It seems like a perfect fit! ;D

Think about it Thunder. A game featuring only ZSS. We would finally get to see her in live action. :)

I really like that idea a lot. I was actually thinking the same thing.

I don't know about that... especially after Metroid: Zero Mission and how weak she was in her Zero Suit during a portion of that game.

Maybe add it on as a feature so you can sneak around easier, maybe?  And maybe have it as an option for when your energy gets depleted instead of instant death?  Then having only 99 energy to escape with?  And then being able to use secret paths that you could only use in Zero Suit form?  That'd sound more feasible to me.

But having the Zero Suit as your main suit for the game seems... like a stretch IMO.

I don't like the idea of a ZSS game, even though the ZSS Sequence of Zero Mission was fun.

I would like to see a 3D Metroid game, played like traditional Metroid games (Sidescroller.) on the Wii. It just better not be a remake of the first or third Metroid game.

a ZSS game would be Splinter Cell with space pirates as your enemies.

I'm still working on how the storyline should be. I'll post it as soon as I'm finished.

Erm, I doubt the third Metroid game (A.K.A. Super Metroid) will ever need a remake ANYTIME soon.  If there's ever another remake, it'd be of Metroid 2.

I wouldn't mind a Metroid game centered on ZSS.

I really like the idea of basing the game off ZSS's trainings to earn her suit.

That's the best I could think of it turning out to be.
