Title: Worst game you played on Wii?
Post by: Tupin on June 04, 2008, 09:31:50 PM
Mine would have to be either Wing Island which is a game I really, really, really wanted to be good, or Sonic and the Secret Rings which cannot be described in words about how awful it is.  :(

What about you?

I thought Sonic and the Secret Rings was good, and so did all the critics :|

Mine would have to be WWII Aces, it was sooo boring...

First of all, Sonic should never be put on rails except for tiny sections of the level and if he IS on rails the whole game, there needs to be good controls. The party mode was also horrid and obviously put together at the last minute.

It's a shame, because the game LOOKED great. I think it was one of the better looking Wii games when it came out in 2007.

No surprise, it's just a GCN game with Wii controls.

I depends how you do it.

It was decent, but the franchise should have stayed on the DS.

Too many bad games to choose from.
The majority of Wii games are bad.

I wanted to stay positive, but I couldn't.

If the controls weren't bad enough, I couldn't take hearing "WONDELFUR" everytime I did something right.

Wing Island, just 3 cutscenes? Even Pilotwings for the 64 wins. WI lacked in missions too.

Lego Star Wars the complete Saga.

What on EARTH are you talking about? Sonic works GREAT on rails (as shown by him being insanely better in 2D than 3D). The game was the best 3D Sonic game we've gotten! The control was good...especially considered how horrid other games were where Sonic spirals out of control anytime you tilt right or left. The party wasn't supposed to be good...it was just a quicky holdover until the first Mario Party for Wii came out.

Worst Wii game I've played? Anything third party not from SEGA, Capcom, or Suda51 X_X;;

Nayr, on-rails means that if you put the controller down, Sonic moves anyway.

Unless I am wrong, you can put the controller down in the 2D games and Sonic won't move.

NiGHTS: Journey for Dreams.

I was so disappointed and even a bit annoyed with the limits of the rail system and the general suckage of the plot and the voice acting that I traded it in a few weeks after I got it and didn't regret it a bit, which I usually do after I trade games in.

I lol'd.

Worst game I've played for the Wii; Sonic and the Secret Rings, hands down. I got bored after the third level. >_> The controls were horrid, and the Wii wouldn't read my controls.

Best 3D Sonic game = SA2B, no question.

Spindash and you can get Sonic through most levels on that alone. I've done it in three different levels in Sonic 2 if you do it in the right place.

WHY do people say the control is horrible!? The control works GREAT for me, so I dunno what you guys are doing. Have you checked your sensor or where the hell youre sitting? Also check how you powered up Sonic...that has a LOT to do with it.
Also, how can you say it was the worst with shovelware crap like WiiPlay and Carnival games out there for the system...

Well, sometimes very simple games can beat games that had a long time to create.

Although something that could be very impressive is a very simple game created in one month defeat a 3 year old game like Brawl...and that will surely never happen. :(

I agree with Nayr. This game was good compared to all the other 3D ones weve had lately. Opinions may be opinions, and facts may be facts, but it's a no brainer that this game is good, in its own way. Alot of people arent a fan of games like this, and thought that if Sonic was put on the cover that they would be. :|

Sometimes thats the case...but I defy one person to play both WiiPlay and Secret Rings and say which one they like better.
Mindless un-fun minigames (besdies Duck Hunter clone) or an actual game?

I agree again, WiiPlay lost its value in an hour. I only bought it for the Wii Remote/game deal! There are far worse party games for the Wii than the party mode in Secret Rings. Everyone thinks they can create a mediocre party game for Wii and it'll survive because the Wii is a "party system". 3rd party companies are finally starting to realize reality: the Wii is a system for hardcore as well as party, and now better 3rd party games are finally being made, but there were far worse party games than Secret Rings, and it gives it to you as an extra mode! :O

Yeah, I guess it is fine. I just wish it was more like Sonic Adventure 2. My main complaint with the game was that levels barely advanced the story.

Also, some of the mingames were pretty good. I particularly like Fishing, Pose Mii, Shooting Range, and Table Tennis. Charge! was too short, and Tanks! was meh. Oh, and Find Mii was okay.

Lets look at the two times Sega tried to make a good/deep story... (Heroes and 06 were the worst two games in 3D by far).
Besides, no one played the game for the story. I liked it because it played like an old fashioned Sonic game (except for a few points). Run around real fast, die in a cheap manner, know its comming and get past it, continue to run fast. Besides, I loved the bosses they were awesome (besides Darkspine Sonic...good gawd that killed my arms).

I hate Wii Play...the box shouldn't say "Free Wiimote with Wii Play" it SHOULD say "Cheap rip-off game with Wiimote!"
The only game I hate worse than that (I can stand the licensed crap...cuz its licensed crap and I never play them) is *guh* CARNIVAL GAMES. Can't you come up with a better excuse of a Wii game BESIDES ripping off WiiSports and WiiPlay?

I own Carnival Games, and I admit it sucks.

You think the same people that make GTA could at least make a good minigame collection.

I liked Heroes, by the way. Wasn't the best, but it was decent and it is always fun to laugh at Team Chaotix because how much they suck.

Different sectors of the development staff. The guys who made GTA did not make Carnival Games.
It wasn't horrible as 06, but it wasnt great. Only good characters in teh ENTIRE game: Sonic, Shadow, and Espio and that's it. Everyone else was worthless and horrible (except when the game FORCED you to switch)

Yeah, I remember not liking the Team Amy levels, but I remember HATING the Team Chaotix levels because I was like this the entire time:

"Who are these characters, and why are they in my Sonic game collecting HERMIT CRABS?! :| "

That said, Sonic Unleashed looks good as it is the true Sonic Adventure 3.

SEGA even said that this is the true 3rd game in the Sonic Adventure series.

In fact, the prototype was called Sonic World Adventure.

Espio isn't that bad...since he rarely talks.
AND WHAT HAPPENED TO MIGHTY THE ARMADILLO!?
Puhleez, Sonic Unleashed is gonna suck. Remember, Sonic 06 looked awesome before, and it was horrible. I predict bad things for this game what with the whole "warewolf" crap....

As long as it has a Chao garden, a decent camera, and more 2D than 3D, it will be fine.

I'm not a fan of Sonic turning into Scully from Monster's Inc, though. That's what it looks like.  :D

Plus, Sonic RPG. How can Bioware screw up a game? They made KoTOR. Plus, it's been proven that companies other than SEGA handle Sonic the best.

It's a generic RPG from the looks of it. It'll be okay, not great but okay.
Trust me when I say Unleashed is going to suck...cuz it will.
Of course we know other ppl than Sega handle Sonic best. Just sell him to Nintendo already so we can get consistant good games...and have him in Mario Kart to own everyone.

I give it two years before SEGA goes bankrupt and Nintendo buys the majority of their rights and staff.

The first few levels of Red Steel were fun.  It didn't last long, though.  It's on my list of bad software.

I know I'm going to annoy or anger a few with this one, but I really did not like Mario Party 8.  It just didn't have it for me.  I bought it becasue my wife wanted it.  I was a mistake.
Combined with what else i'm about to say, some people in here will never respect my opinion again,

I don't think WiiSports or WiiPlay were TERRIBLE.  They served their purpose, which was to introduce people to Wii controls and be entertaining at parties.  The games work extremely well in group settings.  Last year I brought my Wii to work, and the entire office got in on it.  To me, those two games where much better than Mario Party 8.

2D games aren't on rails at all. They involve some free roam, going both left and right, and Sonic doesn't move on his own.
It is not the best 3D game we've gotten, but actually the worst. I'd say SA2B was the best 3D Sonic game, and if Sega actually followed the idea of the action levels in it in later games, they'd be set. The power-ups were good. Heroes would have been good, except that they made you play as three characters at once with very weird flying and power systems, had three different teams play the same levels which made the game very repetitive, and Team Chaotix had the weirdest levels. The game was also glitchy.
Quote from: Nayrman on June 10, 2008, 12:19:55 PM
Spindash and you can get Sonic through most levels on that alone. I've done it in three different levels in Sonic 2 if you do it in the right place.

WHY do people say the control is horrible!? The control works GREAT for me, so I dunno what you guys are doing. Have you checked your sensor or where the hell youre sitting? Also check how you powered up Sonic...that has a LOT to do with it.
Also, how can you say it was the worst with shovelware crap like WiiPlay and Carnival games out there for the system...
So, first you try to argue that Secret Rings is the best 3D game, then you say it followed the trend and plays as well as Sonic 2 (genesis), then you try to describe Sonic 2 as bad. :-\
Oh, and to bring up the point further that Secret Rings is nothing like the classic games, Secret Rings doesn't have spin dash in any form. Isn't the point of Sonic being a hedgehog that he can curl up?

Also, I agree with everything already said that Secret Rings was the worst Wii game I've played. I have Wii Play, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, Sonic Riders Zero Gravity, and Mario Party 8 and like them all much better than Secret Rings. I'll even say that Zero Gravity's storyline is better than Secret Rings' and that it follows the main Sonic storyline closer. Not that Zero Gravity had a good storyline, but Secret Rings had its storyline as almost a parody.
