I personally liked the NiGHTS game on Wii, even though it had a few problems like voice acting and non-analog controls, it was a good game that deserves to become a franchise.
Where do you think the next NiGHTS game should end up? The DS would be cool, even though it would be limited. Maybe the 360/PS3 would be an ideal home for the series...
Or they could just release the remake of the original plus Christmas NiGHTS on the PS2 to the rest of the world besides Japan. :P
I was so disappointed with the Wii game. They gave you gigantic, beautiful expanses, and denied you the right to explore them. The rail ruined it completely...and, of course, the voice acting and the bad on-foot stuff didn't help, either.
What I want from a NiGHTS game: keep the beautiful landscapes, keep the music, trash everything else. I want to freaking fly around like an airplane but better ;_;
Or, better yet, make everything the same, but DESTROY THE RAIL. I want to snap that invisible annoyance in HALF! Or maybe into little pieces...yessss

As much as I hate games that are on-rail, (*looks at Sonic and the Secret Rings*) I think rails fit perfectly with the game, and flying NiGHTS around in a 3D environment with the camera at your back would be disorienting to say the least. I do NOT want them to do to NiGHTS what they did with the 3D Sonic games.

I completely disagree. I'd rather be a little dizzy from flying around with a camera in the back than on a rail, even if the game on the rail is good (which it really isn't, seriously...if you remove the beautiful landscapes and the great music and everything else besides the core rail game, it's not worth more than $5 on Wiiware). I feel that NiGHTS is all about freedom in the skies, and the rail robs it of that.
I guess it would KIND of work, but you can get lost in the game, even on-rails.
It would be a nightmare if there was free movement with a back mounted camera unless the camera was very zoomed out.
Plus, there are half-hoops that you have to circle through and that you wouldn't see without a rail.
Considering that we got this one because everyone begged Sega to make it, I dont think we'll be seeing another for a while :-\
I heard something about a new one in development, I hope it's true. But they better not rush it.

Well, I'm not saying that there should be half-hoops or hoops or any of that, either. When I said can the rail system, I meant the ENTIRE rail system.
And what I said was that it is easy to get disoriented and lost in the game ON rails.

Yes, it was.
It's a major part of the game that isn't going away.
I normally hate rails in games, but a game like NiGHTS needs to be in 2.5D and on a rail for optimum gameplay.
And what does "on-rails" mean anyway?

Constantly moving, or youre on a specific track while you move
