I'm goin to university next year, and I'll need a laptop (if not for this coming year, then the year after).
I don't want an Apple computer though, so don't bother suggesting those.
What do you think would be a good lappy for University, and of course to put games on as well?
Toshiba Satellites are good buys for their price and what you get in them.
I got my 2GB RAM, 200GB HD, AMD Turion 64x2 dual core processor, ATI Radeon probably integrated graphics card Toshiba for $700 US. Not exactly a superspecialawesome gaming laptop, but not bad for the price.
Desktops are much better for gaming, but if you need the laptop for college, put gaming as a low priority.

using it for university is the highest priority. gaming is an on-the-side thing, as you said.

Get something that can run the games you want on the lowest settings.
HP has rather nice laptops, at least in my opinion.
Or you could get one of those Alienware beasts that could do your college work and do serious gaming. lol

You forgot to mention that they're way too expensive, and you could build your own for much cheaper.

yeah, if you're going to get an Alienware, you're interested in form over functionality...or at least form with overpriced functionality.
