Title: NSF's Best Picture of the Century Awards *Nomination Phase*
Post by: THEBIRD on June 06, 2008, 04:35:41 PM
NSF's Best Picture of the Century Awards

No, I'm not expecting a million of movies from the 1930's to be nominated... And to be honest, I'm not expecting any from 1908. But, I'm still allowing any movie, from any time, any place (and by place, I mean Country. Not Youtube or anything like that >_>), to be chosen. Here's how things will work:

NOMINATION PHASE
You may nominate 1 movie per day. Go ahead and post the movie right in this thread. Give the name, the year, and any additional info that might help me specify which movie you are talking about. If you don't give both the NAME and YEAR, it will not be taken into account.

VOTING PHASE
Eventually, I'll stop the nominations. Then, I'll look over each movie and choose the final ones to be posted. These last ones you can vote for as the Best Picture of the Century. YOU MUST PM ME YOUR VOTES. DO NOT POST THEM. After enough votes have been collected, I'll tally them up. Then, I'll post which movie you chose as the Best Picture of the Century.

Questions? Comments? Concerns? Post or PM me, please.

There's too many o_o... Silence of the Lambs, Airplane!, Austin Powers... In short, any movie from the 80's :D. Since I can't remember the year of any of those, I'll choose a movie I've seen recently.

The Strangers (2008)

I've got everything updated once again.

@Riosan- By this century, I meant the past 100 years. So yes, anything before 2000 is fine, too.

@Moomlight- You could vote for one of those movies each day. As for the years, I can just look it up on Google if you don't post it. Just a little more work for me, but that's fine.

you should guess that there will be more Anthony Hopkins movies.

Let's see......John Quincy Adams is a great guy, so, let's go with The Amistad (1997). Great movie, too much Matthew Mcconawhatever. Good move putting Morgan Freeman and Hopkins in.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think "Silence of the Lambs" is the only other film he was in that is on the list. Good of you to step up and nominate another with him in it, he's an excellent actor. But, I think I should be predicting there will be more movies from 1997. That's obviously a popular year XD.

The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

Such a heart warming movie, as well as having a brilliant score from Danny Elfman.

Let me know if I need to post each individually to nominate, and if some need to be weeded out, let me know and I'll edit some out (though I'd prefer not to, but I can most assuredly delete repeats as required). Enjoy.

EDIT: Deleted the repeats that I saw.

Sir Anthony Hopkins is in all three movies I nominated, being The Edge, Fracture, and The Amistad. At least "The Amistad" is based on a true story.

We'll go with....2006's Biography entitled "Bobby."

Whaddya know, my favorite actor is in it too :O

The rule was only one movie per day. That way I could update everything quicker, and it would stop from tens of thousands of movies being posted from just one idividual person. But, because the nomination phase is coming to an end, I'm fine with that. I've updated them all onto the list.

The Nomination Phase ends tonight, so I'll be allowing everyone to post their final movies that they wanted recognized all at once in their posts. I'd rather no more then 10 per post, though.

I just thought of one:
Jurassic Park (1993)

If you're not accepting anymore, I understand, but it was worth a shot.
