Title: So now what?
Post by: thunderhero4 on June 06, 2008, 09:10:31 PM
Weve experienced and beaten all 3 Smash bros. games. Whenever I unlocked all the characters in the first 2 I would say "God, I cant wait for the next one!"

I never said that when I did in Brawl. What are we going to expect what the best game on Nintendo's next system going to be?

Could it really be over :| :(

We would be naive to have belief that when he says it is done, that it isn't. At the same time, I hope it isn't....but eh.

Thing is, where can Smash go? An actual epic story line is the only answer, on top of online, but that is about it. Other than that, filler....

...so, could Smash be over? Yes.

This series has (next to mario) sold probably the most out of all their game series'... Microsoft said Halo 3 would be the last Halo, but they are already making 2 more, in a spinoff fashion. Nintendo might try to make it themselves, but what would it be like then?

Its kind of one of those moments where you wonder "How is Nintendo going to make a sequel to all my favorite Rare games without Rare?"

Actually, Brawl isn't that high up, both Pokemon and LoZ outrank SSB.

Well if it's Not over, it probably won't be done by Sakurai
(man I haven't said his name in a couple of months) ...
and if it's not done by him the game just might not be/feel the same.

However, Nintendo would be fools, to not give it's fans what they want.
If the great majority wanted another Smash game, I'm sure Nintendo would try to
satisfy there needs...... cause it's all about the "money" in the long run anyway.

We just have to wait a few more years....hopefully not the time frame of
SSBM - SSBB.

I might consider that partially fan service...

SSBB is one of the last games for the semi-hardcore gamer....

It probably won't feel the same.  Like DKC and DK Jungle Climber (Rare and Paon).  With the second section, they have been focusing on the casual gamers, so there is a chance it wouldn't happen, but they'd be fools to butcher a franchise like SSB.

They've run out of names.

Rumble?
Fight?
Fray?
Quarrel (Previously mentioned)?
Tussle?
Combat?
SMAAAAAAAAAAASH?
Crossfire? (Doesn't really work, more like Cross FALCON PAWNCH or something)
Clash?
Debate? (thesaurus.com is epic)
Duel?
Encounter?

Well, I just contradicted myself...

Anyway, they can't add much to Smash at this point. Better online is a given, but what else?

More characters? I can understand up to maybe 10 more. Not much else. New stages for said people. And a new storyline.

SSB is losing it's fun value slowly but surely D:

Smash isn't over. It's an easy cash cow, but the series doesn't really have anywhere to go besidse a decent single player that isn't boring or redundant. Sakurai probably won't make it, but Smash 4 is going to be made regardless of if he's there or not.
More characters/stages/etc. will be the norm...and how about a lag free online? X_X;;;

Its true dude, Halo 3 and 2's launch events were so huge that Halo 3 became the top selling 360 game in about a week, and halo 2 more than tripled second place. Halo is almost as popular as mario at this point... :| But it never will pass Mario

Two game launches can't beat 20 years worth of game sales from series like Megaman who aren't in the "top five"...
link to the data plz...cuz I find Halo being in second place REALLY hard to believe...
