All right, we've gotten acquainted with Brawl, we've had tourneys, online matches, and challenges, so after three months, what's your final opinion on Super Smash Bros. Brawl? Does it suck, is it fun, enjoyable? Come on, what do you really think of Brawl? And don't mention that the Online sucks. We all know it does.
I find Brawl awesome in a lot of ways, mostly in the fact that it's geared more torwards Multiplayer now. The Masterpieces shouldn't be in there, as they could've scrapped it and put the original N64 SSB in there, and the Challenges are a nice addition. So I'm pleased with the results.
Brawl is one of the best reasons to buy a Wii.
Yup.
I hate how people are reacting to this game.
It's a lot like the Window's Vista, people get used to the older stuff, then start complaining when something new comes out because, well, it's new. They don't know how to change, so they just drop it and leave it. Now for me, well I was horrible at Melee, Brawl has given me the chance to become good because it's a fresh star. All you have to do is approach it like something new, instead of something older.
Melee was different from SSB64, right? So why are people overreacting about Brawl? >:(
It's a great game, so suck it up and live with it.
It's the best reason to own a Wii by far. More characters/stages/ and still poop load of fun to play with friends (unlike some OTHER multiplayer series these days...I'm looking at YOU Mario Party!).
However, a few dissappointments between the roster/stageroster/single player.
It took three games to get an actual single player MODE that wasn't generic (go through this stage,etc.) and it doesn't work at all. I mean, at least Tekken can come up with a COMPETENT story, along with the likes of Street Fighter, Virtua Fighter, and so on. Not to mention the genericness of the entire single player mode. It was good for what it was worth, but seriously more thought should've been put into this X_X;;
Oh...AND ONLINE SUCKS!
To be honest, it is merely a good title, not fantastic, not amazing, not bad....just...good
For those saying it is one of the reasons to own a Wii, I assure you, it is far from the case for me. Anyone here hear of Metroid Prime 3? How about this little thing called WiiWare? Seriously, fanboyism, that is all it comes down to.
Melee was a solid title...scratch that, an amazing title, Brawl was a letdown. Sakurai himself admitted most of the development went to single player, and it wasn't really that epic, either. Average, describes it. Imagine what the game would have been like if we waited as long as we did for a Melee like title, then get back to me.

Brawl got over twice as much development time as Melee did...
Metroid Prime 3 was great, but then again tell that to the "casual" crowd.
WiiWare is good....but lets get some more "great" titles from it (Can't Wait for GEometry Wars and online Bomberman). Until we start getting stuff like "Everyday Shooter" quality, WiiWare will be behind Live Arcade.
Brawl is one of the reasons to own a wii, like Melee was for Gamecube. It's pretty much the only series that truley appeals to both casual AND hardcore gamers (while everything is quickly going "casual" besides Metroid and Zelda....ugh...)

I focus on the gameplay more than anything, and that's why I love Brawl. The gameplay is near perfect, but you're right about one thing. It wasn't that epic...and if Sakurai worked on the game for a few more months...they could've perfected the game. and fixed many of the problems we see now.
But really, I still love the game.

You are both disillusioned, Brawl's gameplay was aimed at the casual gamer, which made it reek, really. Furthermore, WiiWare has nothing but potential, especially with Pay and Play, Dr Mario, LostWinds, etc. Prime 3 is one of those timeless titles, too, that I'll go back and play years from now, knowing that it stood against the casualness of the Wii, and its' fans. I could go back and forth on this for hours.

Because of touch generations, nintendo has gone soft on its games.Don't get me wrong,I think the wii is the best out of the next gen systems but the titles are too easy.

Nothing wrong with the TG titles, I own most of them, and they get a lot of play time, but Ninty is trying []too[/i] hard to attract new customers.

No, Brawl's gameplay is practically unchanged from Melee (besides a few tweaks to remove SHFFL mostly, glitches, etc.). It's the CONTROLS that make it "casual". I can't say for sure that MP3 is one of the "timeless" ones. It played great and is my second favorite Wii game I own (behind Brawl). I agree that it has nothing but potential for WiiWare. Especially for nice cheap-o games like the Bomberman game.
I have one thing to say tho: PAY AND PLAY IS THE MOST LUDICROUS IDEA NINTENDO HAS EVER COME UP WITH. Until they bother making online play wothwhile, it is not worth paying for. I already pay for the Wiiware stuff so why should I pay more for a download game to begin with?

I think of brawl as another melee. As in, I will never stop playing it until the next Smash comes out, unless one doesn't. Then, I'm stuck with brawl forever. Why will I never stop playing it? Two reasons...
1) For the gameplay
2) Do you really think... That there will ever be a bigger Nintendo crossover?

Jump is like... A whole series of it's own though. I can see where you coming from... And yes, we would have pretty much 70 characters... But seeing Yami with his spikey hair standing beside Sonic with his quills... Jump trusted Nintendo more than they did Sony for this. I think its possible. Not PROBABLE, but possible.
We all know what happens when a Falcon Punch collides with a Chuck Norris roundhouse kick, but what happens in a Falcon Punch meets a super dragon fist?
I can see it all now:
DK vs. Kinikkuman
Link vs. Ichigo
Wario vs. Bo-bobo (image the craziness!)
Y.Link vs. Yoh
Fox vs. Naruto
Marth vs. Kenshin.

Mediocre.
How do you consider a game that spent it's grand old time on crap amazing? SSE wasn't that fun, the challenges weren't that fun, and hell, the characters they put in and took out weren't great, either.
And why is everyone globbing over stages when you only play on like 7 of them? And continuing on stages, the stage maker, although decent, makes you wish you could make professional stages. Stages that move. Stages with multiple parts, etc.

"Brawl should have had voice chat..."
She goes "DIS IZ NINTENDO WIFI NAWT XBAWKZ LIEV"
"Well, Pokemon and Metroid Prime Hunters have voice chat."
"Oh."
The whole time I was thinking "What, are you stupid?!"
I really hate her, she is an all-American idiot.
Er... I mean I think Brawl should have had voice chat. It'd be loads better with it. A better online service would nip it in the bud. Single player stunk, Melee's is better.
i hope they announce that we are getting voice chat when E3 is on
Frankly, I was a bit disappointed. I mean, Brawl's a great game, and I love all the new characters and stages... But I guess I kinda got a bit bored with it. They spent waaay too much time on SSE and Single Player, and it really wasn't that great. Then there's online. I was expecting a bit more, y'know? Gameplay, other than the removal of a few superfluous things, was mostly unchanged. And that mode with the checklist where you can unlock stuff, Challenges, I think it was called, offered very little incentive for me to do the more difficult tasks. I'm not going to even try beating Boss Battles on the highest difficulty for something as mundane as the Galleom Tank Trophy and a few bragging rights.
Also, there were quite a few character disappointments as well. Honestly, I have nothing against Wolf, but in a poll run by Sakurai (in Japan, I think), Krystal placed much higher than him, and she could have been far more unique than him as well. The fact that clones still exist when several of them could easily have been scrapped or decloned, as well as the fact that clones that could've been fixed were cut, was a major disappointment after Sakurai trying to get our hopes up with promises of no clones. He also promised a rather larger amount of characters.

Yep! The game says so! Wow learn something new every day.
A bit overrated and like Mack said, aimed at the casual gamer.

Nintendo is going overboard with the freaking casual. Casuals can kiss my ass.
The Good:
Graphics are amazing and so are the colors. I'm not and I never was looking for an over the top realistic game.. but SSBB in general really was a great good heap of eye candy.
The music is really put together well. They went far and beyond what they needed to when it came down to it.
The gameplay is very easy but of course I bring in my skills from SSB and SSBM on to SSBB which makes it extremely easy for me to play and master.
The characters are good (Wish their were more, what a let down in the Roster)
The stages are plentiful- though some of them could be better.
Over all, I mean I'm really really happy with this game.
All the dreams I had prior to this game coming out, the eagerness...the random sayings, "Man, I can't Wait until Brawl comes out" to my friends and to myself as I thought about it randomly...
All of that will never go in vain.
I'll always play SSBB, Always.
It's frankly 1 of the best games for the Wii (IMO).
SSE was good, and even better with 2 people playing.
So many options to play 2 people when normally it's suppose to be for 1 person,
like All Star Mode.
The Bad:
Well, Online Sucks...it's just too laggy but it's to be expected I guess.
No down loadable content. (Booooo!)
The cpu's are very 1 sided
SSE wasn't Online!!! :(
Not enough pokemon or AT's IMO
and as I said, the roster was a disappointment.
R.O.B.??
What ever.

Pretty much all the AT's would be better characters than ROB. Especially Isaac and Goroh
Even Mr. Resetti would have been a better playable character than ROB...
Ridley is the only person I know that actually uses ROB.
I don't mind ROB. If you hate him so much, just watch some of the SSE cut scenes where the ROBs get torn limb from limb again. While there are characters I'd rather see than ROB, I would rather replace Lucario with Mewtwo than kick ROB out.

Ridley as in the Nsider, not the Boss. :P
Critizism(SP w/e), I give Brawl a 7.8/10(Sonic minuses a whole 0.2 since I hate him :D)
For me it would be...:
Target Test(Pulling that casual crap, each character should have had there own target test like in Melee, could have had the options to remove items atleast. >.>)
Limited Stage Builder(My favorite addition to brawl was the stage builder. But it feels so limted, maybe some breakable blocks or the ability to change the color atleast)
WiFi(LAG. You can't even tell who your fighting, unless you are playing your friends. They should have used Metroid Prime Hunter's rival codes. Look at Mario Wart Wii and BattalionWars 2's WiFi... little to no lag, I mean come on...no ranking system to make people feel better? Casual bullpoop again.)
Gameplay(They dumbed the speed down and removed the wavedash. The speed of Melee kind of forced you to do mind games and was always keeping you on edge. Comboing is nearly impossible unless your opponent is never moving. Most of Brawl's glitches are nothing compared to Melee's)
Event Matches(For some reason, these were uncreative compared to Melee....)
Franchise representaion(Some franchises got waaay to much like Mario and Pokemon, I understand how significant they are to Nintendo, but could have Fire Emblem had more then one page of trophies? Or Mother have atleast 10 songs? Advance Wars and Golden Sun also deserved more)
Subspace(wtf is happening? They should have had more time to think over the story. You know like the chracters getting sucked into there home worlds? Instead of genric enemies, I would have liked enemies from games too.)
Masterpieces(People have hacked brawl and confirmed that the actual full versions of the games are in brawl. Such a waste of memory, why didn't Nintendo just let Sakurai use the full versions? The time limit for some games are just too small too.)
Characters(Should have had atleast a 40 character roster, through I understand why they couldn't have programmed them fast enough)
They(You know...as in Sakurai not being the only staff working on brawl? So he's not the only one to blame. >_>) should have had more time to work on this, but I still think the game's fun.
@Mario- I think they spoiled the series a little. Getting atleast 4 or 3 new stages, the only franchise with enemies in Subspace, I THINK THEY SHOULDN'T HAVE PUT AS MUCH EFFORT INTO THIS FRANCHISE AS THE OTHER ONES. :U With this I say Wario, Donkey Kong, and Yoshi share this special treatment.
@Pokemon- If I had a choice I would had never put in Pokemon Trainer, as influental to the games as he is, he took up 3 whole movesets. Pokemon got a bit spoiled too, with all remixed songs and 6 full pages of trophies.
@Zelda- Toon Link is uber cheap..... :/ It also annoys me that the Zelda Gameboy games werent represented that much. I mean Ralph deserved a trophy.
@Metroid- Heck yeah, did Metroid get some nice treatment, I like what they done with Metroid. Stages representing the scrolling Metroid and fps Metroid. The whole ZSS thing was clever too. They chose some nice music. BUT RIDLEY DESERVED TO BE PLAYABLE , I mean Olimar had a size problem too, he would have been about Ray MK II's size.
@Kirby- Sakurai when he was developing was thinking this would be his last game, so he gave Kirby two newcomers. which were of course nice choices. I like how did made the Dragoon an item too. Everything that was Kirby was just right, Metaknight even got his own winning theme. Just maybe a bit more music....Could had use a supspace boss. Could had used another stage too.
@Starfox- Sakurai always has loved Starfox, or that's what I think, due to the fact the Starfox 64 theme was in the opening of Melee and 64. The conversation cameos were always nice too. Starfox got nice music and even an item, what I was hoping for. But why Wolf instead of Krystal? And all Landmasters? >.>
@F-zero- I wonder what Sakurai thinks of F-Zero, he insisted on Captain Falcon getting a moveset and added him into Smash. Would it really had been that hard to have another F-Zero character? Only three songs were remixes too, which all sound nice. F-Zero could had used a AT and more songs. Mute City's removal bothers me too. But hey, they took the time to model 30 F-Zero cars, changed his X winning theme to the GX/AX one and give CF a animation in his FS.
@Fire Emblem- FE got a bit more then last time, which is a good thing. The music choices were clever and seem to be directed at the fanbase(Attack!, Beauty is a Mad Mistress). Even a stage to represent the series as a whole. My only complaints are Roy should have gotten a trophy, more FE trophies, a Subspace boss.
@MOTHER/EarthBound- Could had used more songs, I mean six or eight? :/ There was only one battle song. MOTHER/EarthBound wasn't treated as well as some of the other franchises, only about 9 trophies...., but hey references only the fans would get were bountiful, MOTHER 1 winning theme, the ruined zoo, The Porky Statue, and the Ultimate Chimera. So just a bit more music, trophies, and even Fourside(Which got like no references at all)
@Other franchises- I was glad all of the vetreans in this category returned. But no Flatzone 1, but 2? That kind of itches on me, same with no Infinate Glacier. I'm glad ROB's in it, Olimar too(Whose's franchise could had used a bit more songs), Pit got a great return too. They got the trophies right too(Hotel Dusk! :3, Ouendan!)
I wonder why Golden Sun and Nintendo Wars got so little. Isaac should had been playable, Golden Sun's popular, he could had done well. And Nintendo Wars....why? 14 games, 19 years. It had such a large influence on gaming and probaley was the first turn based strategy game ever. It's 1989 title inspired Fire Emblem, which is curerrently in the franchise. But what? Only a Assist Trophy, a trophy, A couple of stickers. It could had used a character, stage, and even more. Heck it didn't get a song, yet it as like one of the most requested franchises for a song during brawl's production.
With the exception of that, I understand why Metal Gear and Sonic didn't get as much, since you know....it would had cost money. Codecs ftw. And no MGS2 theme. :(
They should had fixed WiFi too, and what's the deal with tripping!? Subspace could had used a deeper story too. Make it into kind of a platformer RPG too. And what's the deal with tripping? O.o
Course I'm fine with brawl. It's pretty fun, espially with pals over, just they could have delayed the game intill it was "perfect". I myself shouldn't had overhyped the game.
WASTED TOO MUCH TIME MAKING CUTSCENES, THEY TAKE UP MORE THEN ALF THE DATA.
wow flint that mustve taken an hour
but of course i thought the biggest problem with brawl was the target test
i just cant believe they would do that to us
hopefully they learned their lesson for ssb4

I don't know any other R.O.B. users either...but this just makes Ridley really unique. :)
Ridley from Metroid really should have been playable instead of ROB. Even though Sakurai said he wouldn't know how to do that because Ridley was so big.
Well Ridley would have been better but he isn't in so I am using Rob.

Good one, really, good one.

Casual bulls*** again.)
You know what. I couldn't agree more. That is the perfect sum up of brawl.
Did I mention that they took out two Masterpiece demos?
They took out EarthBound and Fire Emblem.

Event Matches(For some reason, these were uncreative compared to Melee....) yes, very uncreative
Franchise representaion(Some franchises got waaay to much like Mario and Pokemon, I understand how significant they are to Nintendo, but could have Fire Emblem had more then one page of trophies? Or Mother have atleast 10 songs? Advance Wars and Golden Sun also deserved more) Get on that later...
Subspace(wtf is happening? They should have had more time to think over the story. You know like the chracters getting sucked into there home worlds? Instead of genric enemies, I would have liked enemies from games too.)Seriously...there is no plot
Masterpieces(People have hacked brawl and confirmed that the actual full versions of the games are in brawl. Such a waste of memory, why didn't Nintendo just let Sakurai use the full versions? Characters(Should have had atleast a 40 character roster, through I understand why they couldn't have programmed them fast enough)Should've been more than that. WAY too much time to single player
They(You know...as in Sakurai not being the only staff working on brawl? So he's not the only one to blame. >_>) should have had more time to work on this, but I still think the game's fun.

(KINIIKU BUSTA!)
@Zelda- Toon Link is uber cheap..... :/ It also annoys me that the Zelda Gameboy games werent represented that much. I mean Ralph deserved a trophy. How does Vaati get NO mention?! We only need one Link
YES HE DID DESERVE TO BE PLAYABLE! At least give a hunter. I know Japan hates it but throw us a bone every once in a while Nintendo...c'mon!
Nothing wrong IMO. I'm glad ROB's in it, Olimar too(Whose's franchise could had used a bit more songs), Pit got a great return too. They got the trophies right too(Hotel Dusk! :3, Ouendan!) EBA got a trophy YAY! Olimar good, Pit good but cheap as hell, STUPID ROBIT NEEDS TO DIE!!!!!!
I wonder why Golden Sun and Nintendo Wars got so little. Isaac should had been playable, Golden Sun's popular, he could had done well. And Nintendo Wars....why? 14 games, 19 years. And only one song? Even tho it was completely awesome it still deserved more. Isaac is my most wanted character for Smash 4. Advance Wars also deserved more.
With the exception of that, I understand why Metal Gear and Sonic didn't get as much, since you know....it would had cost money. Codecs ftw. And no MGS2 theme. :( No one wants whiny Raiden. Love the MGS4 stuff tho. I hate how "Snake Eater" got instrumental only. there are NO bad words or anything! At least Calling to the Night got in. Classic Sonic FTW. We didn't need the Eurotrash tho (Super Sonic Racin)
They should had fixed WiFi too, and what's the deal with tripping!? Subspace could had used a deeper story too. Make it into kind of a platformer RPG too. And what's the deal with tripping? O.o Tripping was the DUMBEST idea ever. Adventure sucked but I only played it once

Bolded glowing stuff...
did you guys here that banjo is coming to the VC this year they won the fight with microsoft to get it
Yay. I'm not stuck in a gaming warphole of these topics unlike I am in NS2 and SWF.
Prepare for major tl;drness. Crud, why did I write this all? D:
So what do I think of brawl? Well, I'd personally give it an 8.5/10, It gets quite boring quickly now, there's not a lot of depth to it, and so forth.
Since I have a lot to say about brawl, I might as well start;
First off, I'm pretty sure we all know about melee in this board. Obviously melee has more depth but brawl has been out for only 3 months, so It's hard to tell how things will turn out, but brawl doesn't have a lot of depth.
The CPU's stink (Well, as with every other game) And you can basically ALWAYS Recover. I'm serious. I had like 230% In a match and yet I ended up beating my friend at the end. o_O
Let me see on the competitive part. The DI Is ridiculously easy in this as well. Camping is a mainframe of the game. Overall the combat system can get very repetitive with most characters quickly. That Is what I hate a lot.
It's freakishly slow. D:
I can't mention the wi-fi? Well, then again, we all know It sucks, but this is more geared towards how the wii itself is handled and how nintendo sucks at wi-fi.
Maybe It's not how It lags but more of how It's presented. Setting up rooms is annoying. Music for wi-fi in the waiting room is annoying. You can end up picking a stage yet not getting it (Not a good way of selection)
We all know about or favorite thing, lag. Lag can be evil at times and make it lose, now If lag was fixed better, getting into rooms was fixed better, and 2v2's were fixed then that would be fantastic.
Let me see, with this in mind, It's hardly geared towards clans as well, actually, the wi-fi Is anti for the most part, but at least we have it.
The 64 limit sucks, period. I have so many friends asking me to battle and...>_> Communication to get in matches also sucks.
I'm thankful that we have wi-fi to begin with, but It still isn't that great. I hope for better in the future.
Oh and with anyone sucks, don't use it kids, I have my list of reasoning:
1.Annoying spam:Most of your matches will be free for alls, with a lot of spamming attacks (hi ike)
2.Lag: You have about 4 people usually and most of the time from very far away. ...
3.It's suppose to be 'Quick' Yet It takes 5 minutes just to get in. << Self Explainitory
4.Ridiculous stages. (This happens a lot)
5.People aren't usually that good (I only saw one good person before and...well...)
6.Items are most of the time turned onto a RIDICULOUS Ammount.
7.You end up waiting for a long time.
So wait...What? This is all ridiculous for It. Hardly worth it. I've only played it for lulz a couple of times and It was boring. Great If you like with anyone but With Anyone sucks.
Onto features, features in this one are incredibly redundant. Stickers - Who uses them? Who even cared for trophies? Some are great like snapshots anywhere. I mean, I hated having to go into a mode just for that.
BtT was mainly broken this time around, was hoping for some board the platforms but stadium is still hardly interesting for the most part. Maybe in the future It will be exploited more, but I still miss all the challenges.
Most things are easy to get in this game.
Ok, I personally HATE The SSE, It takes up so much memory for something I'll only play a few times. What do you get in the end? Unlocking all the characters? You can do VS Matches and so on.
Trophies? As I said:Who cares unless you're trying to collect em all?
Challenge boxes? YAY I LOVE THESE (No. I don't.)
Fun? Kind of boring just chasing around everywhere.
The SSE Plot wasn't that great and overall, especially for the ammount of time gone into it when It could've gone into wi-fi and more people just cared for that was meh. I miss our old adventure. SSE Was sort of cool and all but not really that great, seems more like a waste of space imo, but heh, they wanted to use that and I'm not sakurai.
Characters - I like the roster this time around but why such a limited ammount of newcomers? Revealing most of them before release? Some of these moves aren't very original even If they aren't clones. There were a good ammount of characters that could've been added (Paper mario? Claus anyone?) That would've fit in as well.
Past Stages, most choices stunk. I like rainbow ride back but now with gliding, bleh. I wish we had some more, I was really hoping for some smash 64.
Some of the regular stages were fine, except the FD Is annoying to recover. I kind of wish they would just take the extra platform out of smashville, but those are small things to rant on.
My Music was one of the only things I majorly liked, but some of the song choices weren't that great. They were ok but mehish.
Stage builder, like my music, was great but could've had more done with it.
A lot of things just ended out in what nobody cared about, items are ridiculously overpowered now (After melee, I didn't think It was possible to make them worse) Competitive play going down (I'm not keeping my hopes to high) But overall...Is brawl really that bad?
I still like brawl. I'm glad they included wi-fi. A lot of features turned out flat out redundant. The roster is cool but could have had a bit more onto it. Some things were great for them to add in like My Music and Stage builder.
Maybe we're just not as pleased because of the ridiculous ammount of hype we had into this game? Still a bit crazy on some of the stuff and rather annoying (Like Wi-Fi lag)
Overall: Brawl is fine. I hope to see more things found out to make the fighting style more deep. It's not as great as I expected, but bleh, I'll live with it. I'm not really much into video games as much as I use to be anymore. Still some annoyances, but meh, all I really have to say.
(Why did I write this all? D: )

Umm....I like Knuckles...?
Hmmm...
My thoughts should be fairly obvious. Brawl, in a competitive sense, will never be able to match Melee. It just won't happen. But in reality, I think we all will just need to get used to it. We were spoiled by Melee and SSB64 but really if this had been our first SSB would we be complaining? Its just a different style of play, and for better or worse its what we are stuck with.
Character and item wise... I think it was actually done very well. The roster, although not the best, seems to be varied in character style and I'm not sure I would be happier with a 50 character roster or not...
Items are fine, although some are horrendously overpowered, but as it goes they are fairly balanced.
Stages are pretty great this time around, although a few are simply a good concept gone bad. The goods outweigh the bads in this area, and I'm happy.
As for added features, the story mode is decent and all the added extras are only a plus. But really, for all the new things, they took away the heart and soul of single play. HRC and BBT were screwed over, and they have hardly held my attention for any longer than it took to unlock stages, characters, etc.
Wi-fi, for all its flaws, are what have kept me interested in this game. Its just so satisfying to have intelligent (or not so intelligent :P) opponents. Really, it can be fixed and if it is I expect a renewed love for this game...
But for now all we can do is fix things ourself and put up with its shortcomings.
I think I covered most of it, the only thing left is series representation and all that stuff... but really besides FE and Golden Sun I'm fine on that front.
As for a rating, I give Brawl a 8.5; A great game that I'll be playing for a long while yet but really doesn't live up to its predecessors as much as I would have liked.
