Post by: Macawmoses on June 12, 2008, 04:11:11 PM
My uncle just killed himself; I live in a small town, all my family is close, and he killed himself. I don't know if you care, and I don't really care if you don't care, but I need to tell somebody, it hurts, it really does. I don't have any more details, but I must say, the pain is incredible....my ride's coming shortly. See you all soon,

~MoM~

Hopefully the pain of his abrupt leave from life won't linger for too long.

I've never experienced death in my life. Ever. I can't say something like "I feel your pain :(".

That really sucks. Can't say much more than that...

I...I can't say anything Mack. I just can't say anything. It sucks to lose a family member that way...I'm sorry.

I hope you get through the shock and pain. Everyone, salute Mack. *Takes cap off, puts right hand on chest and salutes Mack*

May your uncle be resting in piece, with Jesus.

Wow... I'm sorry to hear that, man. None of my family is close, so I can't imagine what it feels like to lose someone you love. I feel for you, man. Just remember the good times and memories you have of your uncle. And if you ever need to talk about it, I'm here for you.

Whoa.

Out of nowhere too?
...Just take a break from here, accompany your family. I can't really say anything, just do what feels right, that's all.

...This reminds me of when my grandmother just died on the spot a few years ago. She had been getting sick over the past few years, but nothing had prepared the family for that.

Sorry. The pain never really leaves. You just have to learn to live with it.

I'm not sure what to say, so I'll just post a very large ellipsis that signifies my grievance.

Same.  Unless you count a family pet.

So, (serious question) I take it an hero-ing does more damage to your family than intended?

@Mario: Out of all of my family, him and I got along, we weren't the closest, compared to other relationships, but when you grow up with all of your family around you...

This is my second uncle to die since my birth. The other one died about ten years ago, cancer, but as for the details around this death, I will post what I have been able to piece together, in a spoiler box.
A rough timeline.

3:00-3:30: My uncle calls his wife, he says he has a loaded gun.
3:15-4:45: My aunt arrives, tries finding him, where she does in the bedroom, he hasn't yet had the nerve to do it. She tells him to put the gun down, he refuses. She ran off to call 911, and the trigger was pulled. She dials the # as she performs CPR. The uncle that died at age 40, that I mentioned above, he left his gun to this uncle. Out of the numerous guns my uncle owned, he chose to use that one. Back to the story. *I haven't enough info to piece together when this all occurred, this is a rough guideline.

4:15-I get home from school, start doing chores.
4:45- While doing my chores, the police scanner blares. Cops yelling, getting victim services, etc.
4:47-I hear a siren screech by (my uncle lived about two blocks away)
4:50-I get the phone call. My aunt managed to keep my uncle alive, he died in the ambulance. The hospital is about 8 blocks away.

From the time I left NSF: I find out about the story. Considering the size of the town, we had half of the police force at my uncle's house. My grandma, and my uncles son, live in the houses next door...

...I start getting tidbits. The big one, he did it in the Master Bedroom, blowing part of his head off.
I know I should be with my family, but my parents, and rest of the family, decided to take a break while the coroner examines. I will be here for a while, it feels good to talk.

For those of you that don't know how it feels, your guts start wrenching....that's all I can say. I saw a grown man, another uncle, who is 6'4, and paints/builds for a living, cry. I saw a lot, and I need to talk.

Man... I don't know what to say. I've always been horrible at comforting and the like in situations like this. Anytime I try, I come off sarcastic (at least, I feel that's what it looks like), or I make some type of joke and I can't tell if I'm helping or hurting. With that in mind, I'll try not to say much, less I do do something hurtful.

I'll always be there for you Mack. ;_; <3

No, he made it perfectly clear, he just felt like seeing if the gun could kill him. He thought he would have streams of rainbows coming out of his head. No, intercourse  no, I do not know why, I speculate, but I don't know.

When I was 4 years old, my neighbor grabbed a knife, chased his wife into the streets and killed her.  About 15 or so of us saw it.  She was a great woman, always brought cookies around, played with the kids etc.  I can't say I know what losing your loved was is like, as its different for each person and each scenario.....but I know what it feels like to be that close to a death of someone you care for.

Here if you need an ear, brother.

I think I'd have to consider myself lucky... Most of my family members died before I was born (grandma, grandpa, greats', etc), saving me from having to go through these horrific experiences. And suicide... I'm sorry about everything Mack. Something like that seems uncomprehendable to me, since I've never had to experience it myself.

When was the last time you talked to your uncle, before it happened? And I'm assuming you didn't see the body... Seeing as it might be more upsetting then helpful.
