Title: This is depressing.
Post by: Psilocybin on June 16, 2008, 12:41:55 PM
According to my doctor, I've most likely got Lyme disease. I got bit by a tick about 2 weeks ago, and I've got all the symptoms of it. Took 26 ticks to get it.
If you don't know what Lyme disease is, wiki it. I'm being put on some antibiotics to try and treat it.

Anyone else here have something like this happen to them?

My dog bit me and I had to get the puss pumped out with a needle.

IT HURT.

Ouch, talk about unlucky.  How'd you manage to encounter ticks anyway?  Thankfully, since "you've most likely got Lyme disease", it must not be at a mature stage, so as long as you have antibiotics, you should be fine.

I can't say anything like that has happened to me though.

For all you peapole too lazy to go to wikipedia:

"Lyme disease is the most common tick-borne disease in the Northern Hemisphere. The bacteria are transmitted to humans by the bite of infected hard ticks belonging to several species of the genus Ixodes. Early manifestations of infection may include fever, headache, fatigue, and a characteristic skin rash called erythema migrans. Left untreated, late manifestations involving the joints, heart, and nervous system can occur. In a majority of cases, symptoms can be eliminated with antibiotics, especially if diagnosis and treatment begins early in the course of illness. Late, delayed, or inadequate treatment can lead to "late stage" or "chronic" Lyme disease that can be disabling and difficult to treat. Controversy over diagnosis, testing and treatment has led to two different standards of care."

Well, at least Lyme Disease isn't fatal. Anyways, um, I got a weird infection when I was like 11...because I accidentally stapled my finger. D:

I once had a procedure to get a wart done, and not only did it do absolutely nothing, it gave me blood poisoning.  :|

By "wart done", I hope you mean removed... I had this small one when I was little, on my finger, and I just tore it off >_>

I'm pretty healthy, I can't remember anything like that hapening. The worst sickness i've had is the flu, which didn't affect me that bad. I have been stabbed by a pencil, three times though >_>   You can still see the lead through the skin :P

Well, I'm lucky not to have been bit by one yet.  I had a really close call when I woke up to use the bathroom and I found one crawling on my leg.

The worst that I remember getting sick is strep throat.  I don't know why, but I have a good immune system.

Well, when I was younger, one of my finger's got infected because I pulled a hangnail out wrong. My mom squeezed all the nastyness out, and it hurt like a mutha! Then around the same age, my sister's dog bit me on my head, and the wound wouldn't stop bleeding...

I could go on about the stuff I get into, but the list would be too long.

I got tiny fragments of sharpnel in my left side of the face that got removed but later on I got some cyss like bumps in my face, they were full of dead skin cells, blood, and dead white blood cells. Got them removed. I only got nummed.  I wish I was asleep though. I could still felt them digging in my face.

It was like scratching a fresh wound with metal.  Or like a Denist using that scrapper on your gums.  I flinched a couple of times. >.<
Oh, and no purple heart. xD

There used to be a site where anyone could buy military badges, but the government made the guy take it down.
