Title: Which Nintendo franchise would make a nice FPS?
Post by: Lotos on June 16, 2008, 05:04:48 PM
If given the chance of course.  From playing DK64, if the right developer got their hands on it *cough*Rare*cough* would make a nice online DS game.  If Star Fox got a FPS with moves similar to SSB, I'd be sure to pick that up ;D

Are there really any options? Pokemon? Not really. Baiten Kaitos? No. Kirby? Notta. Star Fox is about it. I could see a Pikmin spin off too...

There's really only one clear-cut choice, and that is Star Fox.

Yep, and if that happens, please god, let me use Slippy in Story Mode please! (Or with Falco is just fine).

Star Fox seems like it'd work.  Just adjust the weapons from Assult so they work in the first person view in said new game, and seeing how vehicular combat in Assult was very similar to FPS games if you used the dual analog option (sorry, the only game where I could even stand an extra button to look around was in Prime, and that's because there's a lock-on system...), and could translate well into a FPS.

Just make the story longer this time (but just as deep or deeper) and I will be completely sold.  Of course, remove the parts where you have to save the others (I mean, come on!  They should be capable of outmaneuvering them) out.  Those parts are annoying.  Especailly in the levels where it isn't quite rail shooter like.

Metroid really already is. AW would be an interesting premise.

If we want to get technical, Metroid is FPA, not an FPS.

F-Zero possibly.

If Star Fox went from a flying arcade game to an action adventure made by Rare, then F-Zero can become a first person shooter. :)

And I can honestly see it happening

Kirby? Notta.

They COULD try a third person shooter, like in Kirby 64 fighting O2, but it'd be like the Donkey Konga games.

Donkey Kong: Gorilla Evolved

King K. Rool has stolen Kong's bananas once again, and sent his Kremlings out to finish off the protagonist.  Tired of simply tossing barrels and jumping over wasps, Kong will now use an assortment of assault weapons to wreak his vengence.  Players start out with the Banana Clip Machine gun, and move up to more advanced weapons such as the TNT launcher and the Spinner, which launches useless members of the Kong family at enemies (Dixie and Kiddy are finally useful!).

Final Fantasy Origins:  Light Fire

Square hasset aside its busy schedule of producing handheld ports and FFVII spin-offs to deliver this fast-paced FPS based of off the original FF.  Choose your class a la TF2, and get going on defeating Chaos.  The fighter starts with a basic Muzzle loader, magic classes start with appropriately themed spell casting guns, Black Belt has a heavy emphasis on melee weapons, and the thief uses shuriken.

If they ever made the second one, I might actually consider buying it.

I still say F-Zero. It will follow what Metroid and Starfox did, have 1-3 games that are comepletely different from the normal series

My choice still stands. Star Fox.
