I also remember when we got a computer that had a 56K Modem built in, I thought it was amazing. We also had that computer installed with a CD burner, which I thought was really cool.
Of course, none of that could compare to the day we got DSL. I was so glad I didn't have to get offline when someone was on the phone or take two hours to download everything.
So yeah, when did you first get AOL before abandoning it?
2003 I think, we got rid of it because they charged us 89 dollars for some reason, which we never paid.
yes, it was the first time I ever used the internet, used one of those disks that came in the mail, took forever to load

Got it around 2001 and left it that same year. I remember how long it took to download games. Oh god, it took like 12 hours to download something that's usually like 1 hour.

Oh, we still pay for AOL because my parents are used to it.
So we pay for basic Internet AND AOL.
Remember the 4 billion CDs for free internet they used to send you?

Remember they actually worked?
2001-2005 was all AOL.
I hated how long it took pages to load, download something, what I hated the most was
when I was midway through a download, my mom would make me get off because she needed the phone.
I was so happy when I got DSL.
AOL was my first ISP.
I intercourse ing hated it.

I think it was pretty much everyone's first ISP.
The only time I used AOL was at my friend's grandparents house (he was with them on weekdays), and we intercourse ing hated it.
There was dial up at my grandparents house for a while, but they got RoadRunner eventually.
And here at my house I've always had RR.
Since AOL and Roadrunner are like bestest buddies, my mom uses the AOL explorer thing. You know, AOL minus all the poop that isn't a web browser.
I used some local dialup ISP until like 2 years ago. I switched to Bellsouth for like a week, and it was terrible. The connection crashed every 20 minutes, it was impossible to do anything, because I had to restart to get it back up and running. So then I switched to Roadrunner, and now it's all good. <3
Yeah, I remember that. It was really annoying until we finally got our first cable modem.
Hm, I think we got it in 2002? We killed it in 2004.
I have AIM now, but not AOL.
There was other ways to get online then....there was compuserve....prodigy, my family used mindspring which I think was bought by excite....
I can confidently say that I was never forced to use that feature saturated bloatware known only as AOhell
Ah, AOL. How it sucked. >:(
We got rid of that a while ago. Then we got NetZero. Just as bad. :(
We finally moved away from crappy dial-up and got AT&T a couple years ago. Ah, DSL. :)
