Title: Favorite game of all time?
Post by: SkyMyl on June 21, 2008, 04:14:51 PM
What's the best game you've played? Your favorite, out of all the ones you've played? I really don't need to add much more.

My favorite game is The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. Granted, I am being biased towards Zelda, but it's still my favorite. I <3 anyone who agrees if it's the best Zelda game in the series.

Post.

My favorite is Majora's Mask with Paper Mario in a close second.

Majora's Mask huh? I really need to borrow that game...

Anyway, my favorite game of all time is probably Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. I don't know why, I just really like it, and I could play it from the begining many times, without getting tired of it, it's just fun. Because of this, I might just play it from the begining again later :|

I would have to say Majoras Mask, its one game I never get tired of playing. Windwaker is a close second.

I can't decide. Probably Ocarina of Time or FFVII.

Or Super Mario 64.
Or Super Mario World.

Standalone, it's Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Clump the Paper Mario games together, and it's my favorite series, period. The original Spyro trilogy was pretty amazing, too.

Hey, without an at least semi-cartoonish art style, (Yes, OOT and MM fall into that category) there's no way for Link to express emotion. TP proves that, Link was like a freaking robot.

Nintendo apparently didn't get the message that emotion is a major storytelling narrative.

Actually, they did, but they had to give into all of the fanboys wanting a realistic Zelda.

lawl everyone who said a zelda game
But I said Windwaker, arguably the BEST Zelda game.
Again, I thought that to be one of the worst.
Look, the art style made the game immersive, and while I admit the Triforce Hunt was unnecessary, it was fun. Except for paying Tingle to decode the maps, that sucked.
I hated the whole toon thing, and the having to entertain my self during the long boat rides were the worst, everything ells was alright.
Hey, without an at least semi-cartoonish art style, (Yes, OOT and MM fall into that category) there's no way for Link to express emotion. TP proves that, Link was like a freaking robot.
I disagree.
Link had like four faces the entire time.

Here are all of them:

:O
And in the original LoZ he had the same expression all the time. Whats your point.
Nintendo apparently didn't get the message that emotion is a major storytelling narrative.

Actually, they did, but they had to give into all of the fanboys wanting a realistic Zelda.
Toonlink looked to childish to take that game seriously.
Toon Link IS a child.

If you can't take a game seriously just because of its art style, than you will miss out on a lot of great games.
Then if you like games because of how they look, then you are also missing out on a lot of great games.
I give games a chance, no matter how they look.

Okami, Metal Gear Solid, Call of Duty 4, Windwaker, they all are great games with drastically different art styles.

What makes you not able to take Windwaker seriously?

That reminds me. Yahtzee just posted his review of MGS4.

I agree that Kojima needs a better editor.

I still love the game, it's the best game I've played on the PS3 ever, and one of the best I've played all year.

omg, I have nothing against cel-shading, but Link is supposed to be realistic, the Zelda games are supposed to be one of Nintendo's "serious" games not kiddy looking.

And TWEWY is more like anime and doesn't look childish.

You don't get the Ballad until later in the game, and it also doesn't bring you every ware, and the music wasn't the best.

I think he's supposed to be realistic. I've played my fair share of LoZ games, I enjoyed them, etc. Wind Waker was definetly not my favorite. The original LoZ is my favorite for some odd reason, but that's beside the point.

I'm not saying that Wind Waker was bad, I'm not saying that I didn't like it because of cel-shading. I'm saying that to this day I still say "What the hell were they thinking?".

I don't think LoZ belongs in cel-shad land. If they'd make a great real-looking game, I'd buy it rather than borrow it from Lichig0/buy it on my Wii.

That's true. I could understand if LoZ was anime style, actually. That would look pretty awesome. Cel-Shading just wasn't my thing, I guess.

Having fun with a game doesn't mean that you're instantly a fanatic. I like TF2, does that mean it's the only game I play? No, but it's certainly up there.
