I'm watching the premiere of a show called Wipeout, and it is amazing how much they directly lifted off of Ninja Warrior, except they put more emphasis on the wiping out part.
This is the first time I've seen a network rip-off G4. :|
one of the many reasons I don't watch tv besides sports anymore...
They're also making "I Survived A Japanese Game Show" which seems like a cheap sterilized and commercialized version of that genre. That's the last thing we need: a corporate TV network screwing up one of the last remaining quality forms of entertainment.
When they say wipeout, it better have gore, or it's a waste of time.

it's american...so you know they won't do a take on something foreign right.
It actually is a rip off of MXC which has been around for a long time.

It's just too bad they can't do some of what makes those game shows so crazy because of safety laws.

Don't most Japanese game show tasks involve some kind of physical injury in exchange for a prize/getting the wrong answer?
I seem to recall one time they hooked up a car battery to a man's nipples and shocked him when he answered the trivia questions wrong.

yeah.
Some other notable ones were that if you lose a game involving cleaning a slanted floor with a rag, you have to have the rag pressed up against your face (the rag is drugged), and if you slip off a narrow and slippery beam after being spun around like crazy, you will fall into a pool of near-boiling water. At least in the latter one they let you scramble over to a large bucket of ice.

Yeah, I'm watching it right now. It's more like Double Dare than anything that would actually air in Japan.

I love the SNL skit with Chris Farley and the Japanese Game Show XD.

Yeah, Japanese game shows can be quite painful. Like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YwoP0thR1k (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YwoP0thR1k)
I had also seen this one where they stood in front of some weird looking thing while saying a really long tongue twister, and if they mest up, that weird looking thing would smack them in the balls really hard.
