I think it's a christian term.
It's a term for a sex crime.

Sodom was a city in the Old Testament that was extremely sinful and decadent. God destroyed it after escorting one good family out. Some interpret the main "sin of Sodom" to be sexual immorality, hence the term "sodomy" came about.

To expand, sodomy is defined by the courts as anything that isn't vaginal intercourse between a man and a woman.
