I prefer pens, they're easier to write with and they don't give you chicken scratch like pencils. Plus, you don't have to sharpen them all the time. You won't have trouble grasping a pen, but you have to break your hand to hold a small pencil because it's been sharpened down to a tiny fragment of its original self.
So what do you guys think?
I like pens better.
I like pencils better.
It's a lot easier to erase a mistake.

Erasable pens, whore.
Pens for the win.
Much smoother and doesn't make weird noises when writing on paper.
You should make a poll.
And yes, I choose pens...
Black ink please. :)

I forgot about those.
Well, looks like it's pen for me.
Pencil. Pens suck.
Depends on context. I love a good pen, but in things like mathematics or English, you can't beat a good pencil. Still love pens, but practicality comes up several times D: So, null vote?
I use pens even when my teachers specifically say that I'm supposed to use pencils for the class... for everything except computer-scored tests. I hate graphite covering my hand (since I write with my left hand) and wood shavings for non-mechanical pencils. I hardly ever would erase and a strikethrough is simple enough to use.
Usually blue or purple ink.
Pencils. No matter what darned Pen I use, it dies within the period. Pencils last me weeks before I get a new one.
Pens for the extreme win.
Pens, though I don't mind mechanical pencils.
The mechanical pencil.
Lead pencils. None of the ordinary pencil blister fun, but ability to correct mistakes.
Pens because I'm a Southpaw.
...You're all silly...
...If the pen is mightier than the sword, and a pencil is essentially a wooden sword, the equation is as follows:
Pen > Sword > Pencil
...So the pen is easily the victor...
Pens for me. Writing with a pencil just irritates me for some reason
Mechanical pencils for me.
Mechanical pencils, because pens annoy me to no end as they write too smoothly.
both.
The mechanical pencil beats all! It's reloadable! :O

Ah, but when that quote is written in 1839, the pen was a steel point dipped into ink. Surely, a steel point would be mightier that the modern-day pen, so the might of the modern-day pen is undetermined.

Personally, I use ultra fine-tip Sharpies, but I don't always have my white-out with me, so I guess I choose pencils due to the fact that most of my tests are multiple choice and computer-read.
Typewriter. It was invented BEFORE the fountain pen, no joke.
Pens.
They are more customizable, and there are a greater variety of them on the market. While the ink jets can be held in long metal casings, pencils can never be more then graphite shoved in a stick. True writers will see the difference in beauty between the too, and, using a pen, his/her writing will improve.
Mechanical pencils.
Easily erase my atrocious handwriting mistakes, and smooth writing make me love them.
If I am going to use a pencil, it has to be mechanical. Wooden pencils piss me off.
I hate how mechanical pencils break easily, though.
Pens, they are easier to write with, look neater and more professional as well.
Pens only smear when the ink is still wet. Pencils smear more, but you can erase with a pencil (assuming you're not using an erasable pen). I prefer pens myself, black, red, blue, or purple.
