Title: More Animal Crossing: City Folk info.
Post by: Tupin on July 15, 2008, 05:55:03 PM
http://gonintendo.com/?p=49563 (http://gonintendo.com/?p=49563)

It comes out November 16th, which is a Sunday. Good news for all of the school-age Animal Crossing fans. WiiSpeak also launches that same day, separately, for $30.

But wait! There was a demo at E3 and IGN got to play it.

http://wii.ign.com/articles/890/890136p1.html (http://wii.ign.com/articles/890/890136p1.html)

IGN doesn't seem to be too impressed, they say it's almost exactly like the GCN version.

What's even more interesting, is that there was no motion control in the game at all. It was all button controlled. They don't seem to like it at this point, but it might change.

This is compounded by this quote. "...this does seem more like a quick solution, rather than the grandiose celebration of the series that some fans out there were wishing for."

I'm still looking forward to it, but I hope they add SOMETHING new.  :-\

I imagine the buttons, for instance, would only be one option, like how Ninty limited us to using the sideways wiimote for Brawl.

So....$80 for full ACCF experience. Wonderful.

I'm hoping that I can use the GCN Controller as well as the Classic Controller, as well as the Wii Remote+Nunchuck and Wii Remote alone.

Yeah. I hope it's worth it.

A $30 microphone? Other than full headsets, I have yet to see a microphone anywhere near that expensive.

From the IGN link "We'll prefer playing with the attachment plugged in as well, since IR movement wasn't exactly the best feeling control scheme on Wii. Point to have the player walk in any direction, and point farther away to have them walk faster."
That sounds EXACTLY like the control for using the stylus on the DS. Point the styles to have the player walk and further from the player makes you run.

Well, more than one person can talk into it at a time.

That's not a reason to make it more expensive.

They are definitely reusing some mechanics from the DS and GCN games.

From GoNintendo (http://gonintendo.com/?p=49619):

- Halloween has returned to the game

- WiiConnect 24 will send you new items

- the city has a theater that puts on comedy shows

- friends can visit the city while you aren?t there, and the other way around as well

- You are now able to create the front, back, and sleeves of your shirt

- once again, you can take photos, save them to an SD card, and send them to friends

- If you have a friend that leaves the town, the connection will disappear for everyone?just like Wild World

- you can transport your Wild World DS character to City Life to play as them. You can also bring data that represents all of your all of your items/collectables, and then visit Tom Nook in the Wii version to recollect them.

- You can take character data to your DS, move the data to a friend?s Wii, and visit a town that way. That?s for people that don?t have wifi at home.

- In Japan, you can take your DS to a download station to grab the new content for City Folk.

- the DLC is brand-new, not already on the disc

- There will be no NES titles available in City Folk

- There will be no interconnectivity with the Wii Forecast Channel, on real-time in-game weather.

- seasons are still inverted for souther hemisphere

I was about to post that, can't wait for the new items via DLC.

They better come in packs because I'm not paying 100 Wii Points for one chair/couch/lamp.

Yeah, they should only charge for stuff like more characters and buildings.

I'm guessing it uses Pay and Play?

I think in an IGN interview, it was said all DLC is free :O
Its definitely not PP, I remember them saying that.

Found it:
"What we're considering with the downloadable content is that it will be an automatic, free service. It will not be pay to play."

The GCN version was thousands of times better than the DS version. I can't begin to say all of the stuff they took out that made the original great.

Well, they brought back Halloween and Christmas, maybe the Cherry Blossom Festival and the Harvest Festival (Thanksgiving) will come back too.

Makeover was in WW, Gracie was in all 3 but without a shop, and comedy club is new.

... But they all do things you could basically do before :P

Cool. I hope this is different from the DS game because i hated that one, and the GC one probably wasnt better...
The GCN version was thousands of times better than the DS version. I can't begin to say all of the stuff they took out that made the original great.

Well, they brought back Halloween and Christmas, maybe the Cherry Blossom Festival and the Harvest Festival (Thanksgiving) will come back too.
...anything new? its gonna have to have a HUGE new feature to sell me (no, VC is not enough)
The city, where you can get a makeover, shop at Gracie's shop year-round, and go to a comedy club.
I recall you being able to do those things in the first 2
There was never a city in the first two, you could only get Gracie's clothing when she came to her town, and there was never a comedy club.
A city doesnt change much if you can get the same things there...what is the significance of the comedy club?

You get emotions ;D
The only reason I play Animal Crossing is for HARDCORE FISHING AND BUG CATCHING!!! >=O
... :D Its fun.
Cool, fishing is always fun. I will definately think about it.
I hope they add more fish.

I also hope they add more furniture sets too.
Can you customize the entire town?
Well, you could lay down those patterns like people do.

Is that a hack, or was it intended in the game?

And hmm. Name me the best thing in Animal Crossing. What it was meant for. If the main idea doesnt intrest me, i wont be buying it.

I wonder if they'll make patterns placed on the ground perfectly meld to the floor's shape, so that no cracks can be seen on pattern towns.
It sounds really good that you can customize things like sleeves seperate from the rest of the shirt. That really annoyed me in Wild World so I stuck with a solid color pattern.
I also hope they add lots of good hairstyles, especially for females since lots of the female hairstyles in WW sucked, one example being:
Building up your house from the ground up and filling it up with the stuff you love. That and just talking with all the villagers.

I have a game already like that, and it has way more ways to customize: Viva Pinata. I wont be needing this, sorry.

Personally, my favorite parts of Animal Crossing are building up and decorating my house, filling the museum, completing Nook's catalog, and making textures.

I hope they have those games of chance in the igloos during the Winter again.

- you can transport your Wild World DS character to City Life to play as them. You can also bring data that represents all of your all of your items/collectables, and then visit Tom Nook in the Wii version to recollect them..

Since I have 3 AC:WW (I lost 2, then found them again) games, I LOVES THIS FEATURE.
