I've noticed that the Mario character models are always so different....series wise.
For instance, compare Diddy Kong in Brawl, MKWii, and another title of your choosing. Diddy's best model is in Brawl, worst is MK:Wii (in which he looks like a toilet paper roll with a face).
Rosalina in Galaxy to Mario Kart. Look similar, Galaxy looking a tad nicer.
The team behind the Mario games can't stay consistent, which is sad. If all the characters in the series (in a game like Mario Kart) look like they did in Brawl, I'd be impressed, but using a toilet paper roll doesn't count.
So, do you have a favorite/least favorite model in the Mario world? Do you have a counterexample for me? Do you think I am an idiot for making a thread about graphics?
i can counterexample, take SM64 and MK64. see what i mean?
Well, the reason for the refined graphics in Brawl is probably because Nintendo's casual, friendly characters are put in the mix with Nintendo's mature, violent characters, and Konami's super mega-cool soldier. They made all the characters have a serious tone to stay consistent with all the other "serious" characters.
Just a guess.

SM64 is a different, more polygonal model.
I dunno...
To me, his best look is in Galaxy. brawl is a close second.
but yeah, I don't really like the way he looks in Super Mario World. Looks a little odd to me...

Same here. :P
I think I like his Galaxy model the best.
And I don't recall Diddy looking like a toilet paper roll, I'll have to check that. :P
His in play model is a spray painted toilet paper roll, I kid you not.
Best model ever: Luigi in Galaxy
The games aren't consistent cause different teams make them.
Diddy Kong looked pretty normal to me... :|
And yes, i noticed that, but I think that the series has the say in it.
The 3D platformers have the same
Sports have the same
ect.
Diddy Kong and Donkey Kong do look pretty terrible in MKWii.

Donkey Kong also sounds like a fat man on steroids on top of being high.

Funky Kong sounds like he escaped from a mental hospital and I don't even know what Diddy Kong sounds like.
Why couldn't they just re-use the same people from Brawl?

Because... I really don't know.
I couldn't picture Bowser's humanoid voice in Brawl, and I can't picture his beastly voice in Kart. The two atmospheres are just too different :P
