What would Nintendo need to make in a system update for the Wii to play aleast CD's?
(DVD's would be nice, but if it could play CD's but not DVD's it would still be nice)
do you know what it would take?
I'm no Wii master, but the darn thing reads standard sized discs. Wouldn't adding a CD Channel with the appropriate commands and stuff do it? If so, then a Wiiware method of obtaining might work, and if that works then a system update theoretically should too. But I'm not sure if the Wii hardware is at all potentially capable of reading CDs and DVDs.
I'm also pretty sure you can already hear .mp3s and watch .movs via SD card in photo channel, but that might require a little modding.

right, if the wii could read CDs after a update
or by a channel then, why not?
i know for a fact that you can listen to Mp4 format music and IDK what movies via photo channel without any modding.
Nintendo said it would require a hardware upgrade. (as in new parts)

oh well.
thanks for you help guys ;)
I would absolutely love a DVD player installed in the Wii. It seems kind of pointless not to. I mean, I have a poopty DVD player I use now, but to use it I have to unplug the video/audio plugs for my Wii from the TV and to play it. I don't like reaching around the back of the darn TV, it's in a tight area.
i think that ninteno thought that everyone already has a dvd player so what would be the point to put it in the wii
